Dive planes work in two ways; direct development of downforce, and as flow conditioners down stream. They are VASTLY more powerful as flow conditioners. Insitu and on their own they perhaps generated 50-100 lbs direct downforce. But down stream they can have vastly more powerful effects in shedding drag and/or adding downforce by directing airflow given their trailing edge shape, overall Angle of Attack, and camber.

Cool, I guessed right about the dive planes. Shows too that Toyota is still taking the car seriously, lame duck or not. (Though I guess "Lame Duck" would be a better name for the R19 with its unique nose.)

Now the fact that you were able to guess correctly says a lot, eh?
Perhaps time for a new line of thought? |

I give up. The budget comparisons between Audi and Toyota and Toyota Sportscar and Toyota F1 are clearly of the utmost importance to you. Perhaps I'm the only one that's bored!
We'll all talk about something else then..... |

Disagree, there are a lot of things much more important than toyota budget. I'm sorry if you are bored but the economical question is an important side of motorsport... I'm a new member but i noticed that there a lot of other topics in this forum, I wish you will find some more interesting topic.
Variety is the spice of life, I just gave some opinion here and there like everyone else do. Anyway I'll keep on living with the risk of getting you bored. |

Fair enough. But there is a lot more to the subject of this particular thread than Toyota's budget. If others want to discuss this with you, they'll no doubt let you know. The debate between you and I on the subject though is now over.

According to Japanese Autosport mag,
Toyota thinks that the Porsche's hybrid power cannot exceed 4MJ table. (It means that Toyota's hybrid power in 2014 exceeds 4MJ table.) |

it isn't that there is anything wrong with the basic topic ... it is just that after each of us have stated and clarified our views, the rest of the posts start to seem like we are trying to convince one another to change our views.
I respect the views raised here, and I have posted and fully explained my views. Until further information arises, saying the same thing over and over ... why? If we don't understand each after the first ten times, the next twenty won't help, and if we do understand and just disagree .... well, let's deal with that. Personally, I am a big Audi fan and a big Toyota fan ... but I think I like Porsche better than both ... I have to wait and see what their program looks like on track, but I was into Porsche's endurance efforts long before Audi or Toyota dreamed of going to Le Mans. Since this is a Toyota thread ... and because I tend to favor underdogs ... I hope they kick butt at Sao Paulo. The new more powerful engine and new aero devices sound exciting. I don't really care who wins ... I like the process. All I really hope is that the Toyota lasts the distance. Anyone else happy whoever wins, so long as we get a race? |

don't know why but judging by the reaction I still think that someone has taken my word as offence. Maybe I am wrong but nevermind, let's move on as my previous not edited by me post tells.

I see those dive planes and can only think of what the driver's must say everytime they will climb into that car. "I'm Batman! Alfred! To the BatCave!"
I thought Wirth's wavy diveplanes on the Acura were 'out-there'. dh |

Maybe it is, maybe they can increase downforce significantly but without increasing the drag levels all that much by keeping the wing lower, than by running a higher wing.
