If I remember correctly, Hill almost disappeared into the lake at that meeting when he had his off in the Cortina.

Nice pics there. I particularly like the Sunbeam Alpine. Of all the brit/yank hybrids of the 1960s I thought the Tiger was better looking than the Griffith and Cobra ( though may be the Egal matched it). The Tiger lacked the necessary oomph until they replaced the 4.2 unit with the 4.7.

Incidentally, John T of this parish produces a very comprehensive report on his FISCAR races. He covers the drivers and the cars and associated history. Worth reading if researching the various models. |

Crikey, we have been spoilt today, firstly waking up to breakfast with a big selection from Bob's wonderful archives..... love the Formula Juniors, and then a great array of classic Sports Racer eye candy, not to mention 'whoopsies'. Wandered off, cleaned the gutters and a couple of other chores, have a bite to eat and then next time I look Peter has uploaded a load of FISCAR beauties, many of which we rarely see on our shores. Very pleasant.
Can only add to Peter's words on JT's detailed FISCAR reports, always fine reading. Thanks all for sharing your pics. Lovely stuff. |

I think a Cobra can bite, a Griffith can kick but I've never been oomphed by a Tiger. Just a nice kiss…

Thanks muchly for that - The day after my 17th birthday! - so it must have been a birthday treat. Doubt Dad would have let me drive down there on my shiny new L-plates Geoff Breakell makes sense as he was a local lad, of course (involved in rallying also in an Alfa at times) and was a member of my AROC section until his passing. His widow is still active in Lancashire Automobile Club events so I see her regularly. |
