If I remember correctly, Hill almost disappeared into the lake at that meeting when he had his off in the Cortina.

Nice pics there. I particularly like the Sunbeam Alpine. Of all the brit/yank hybrids of the 1960s I thought the Tiger was better looking than the Griffith and Cobra ( though may be the Egal matched it). The Tiger lacked the necessary oomph until they replaced the 4.2 unit with the 4.7.

I was however then thwarted as the page on TC.net I was on had the Alfa listed as #5, and I couldnt clearly read the #120 on the Falcon Sprint, though it looked like it had a likely Mann livery.. Other cars numbers were not shown on the page I visited so it went, after a detour to check the 1967 TT as Oulton Park in May, into the too hard basket!
Like you I went on to the touringcars.net site but couldn't make the comp. numbers tie up for 1967 so I thought it may have been another Group5 race at Oulton but not counting for the BSCC.

Thanks, I wasn't that keen on the Alpine when I were a lad but the design tends to grow on one. The Tiger OTH was quite a beast and I think it was based on the later (small rear wings) shell.

Incidentally, John T of this parish produces a very comprehensive report on his FISCAR races. He covers the drivers and the cars and associated history. Worth reading if researching the various models.

Crikey, we have been spoilt today, firstly waking up to breakfast with a big selection from Bob's wonderful archives..... love the Formula Juniors, and then a great array of classic Sports Racer eye candy, not to mention 'whoopsies'. Wandered off, cleaned the gutters and a couple of other chores, have a bite to eat and then next time I look Peter has uploaded a load of FISCAR beauties, many of which we rarely see on our shores. Very pleasant.
Can only add to Peter's words on JT's detailed FISCAR reports, always fine reading.
Thanks all for sharing your pics. Lovely stuff.

I think a Cobra can bite, a Griffith can kick but I've never been oomphed by a Tiger. Just a nice kiss…

Number 100 is Geoff Breakell, Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA, 120, (I think) is Frank Gardner in Alan Mann's Ford Falcon Sprint, 123, Brian Thompson, Ford Mustang and finally 103 is Brian Newton, Ford Lotus Cortina.

Thanks muchly for that - The day after my 17th birthday! - so it must have been a birthday treat. Doubt Dad would have let me drive down there on my shiny new L-plates

Geoff Breakell makes sense as he was a local lad, of course (involved in rallying also in an Alfa at times) and was a member of my AROC section until his passing. His widow is still active in Lancashire Automobile Club events so I see her regularly.

Agree re the period Super 8 movie, very appropriate. Dont know if you spotted in the film Peter Gethin in the (orangey red) AFN entered 911 slowly gaining, behind the two works LC's. eventually finishing 5th outright behind 3 Sprints and a Mustang....1st in the 1.3>2.0 class when Hill and Ickx DNFd.

Always a bit controversial to see a 911 in a Saloon Car championship.... actually in 1969 here we had a 2.0 litre 911 score the most points in the ATCC. It lost the title due to its reliability.

It finished all 5 rounds with decent points in each but the rules were to drop your worst score. Ian ("Pete") Geoghegan in a Mustang had a no score round so all his points scored counted. Alan Hamilton (Porsche) finished every race but had to drop 4 points, losing a 3rd place outright as his worst score.... and on best 4 results then trailed thus losing the 1969 ATCC by a single point despite scoring the most points overall..
Surely it was Vic Elford in AFN Porsche ?

Complete brain fade of my part. I would like to say a senior moment but sadly its something I have done when younger as well. The silly thing is it is just their names, not their careers or pics. I could recognise both from a picture. I read a race report and that told me it was Elford in the AFN Porsche, It was in the results sheet, I know Elfords 911 History (Winning Monte Carlo in one). The sad thing is I had in my head to write "Quick" Vic Elford, I still wrote Gethin.

Thanks for spotting it and pointing it out. It might cure my problem and make me not do it again.

A good spanking or a beer and you'll be fine my son… As to a GT entered in a Saloon Car championship, old debate. To my knowledge Porsche had ever only one car homologated as a Gr1, and we can discuss endlessly about the Bertones and the Mazda Savana to name those… I can remember of ATM! Go in peace all of you naughty!
PS: as suggested in another thread, I tried to find a town or village named Canossa in Australia with a lot of unsuccess…

I was baffled by that one too so put the registration into our workshop management software and it came back as an MGA, so assumed it was some sort of MG based special.
Thanks Midge, I now know exactly what it is (sort of - but will Google for more info later!)
