Melaneimoon, nice to see a new face. I'm not too happy with your circuit (I personally hate circuits with a lot of corners). However, some of the corners are quite nice. Hope to see more work from you ...

Lust, I like the street circuit in Shanghai. That's what most street circuits are, extremely simple. Is it something that's actually going to happen, or is it still a proposal???...

Mike W, V8's are going to Shanghai next year (June 5 or July 3, I forgot). I personally don't like the idea to make V8's international, but whatever is best for the sport I guess.

P, I much prefer your second circuit. Looks great. Good job.

No-one has yet said anything about my circuit yet. Please, I'd love to hear some opinions...

use the banking man!
Not sure about the using of public roads either...

I sort of got the idea that the track was supposed to be largely self contained, and I even took that to the extent with my second version of containing everything within the bounds of the oval retaining wall...

I don't like banking...sorry, but I just don't believe in it. Road courses out of ovals are one of the worst circuits (in my opinion). That's just me however...

I understand that my track is a bit 'out of the ordinary', I know I shouldn't have gone out of the oval either (grandprix.com even said that; "The plan is to build a 2.5-mile race track, which would be similar in size to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and could therefore have an infield road course"), but it's a nice circuit none-the-less...

Any of you seen this? I love it!!! Really fast, flowing corners. Through parks, across bridges, down the motorway. Almost an old-skool approach to race tracks. Really hope this one comes to life

If I understand correctly, Freaks track is immense! The oval alone would be 2.5 miles, wouldn't it?

hehehehe, i throught as much, but i agree i dont think it is a good thing moving it outside of austrilia, BUT asia has a pretty much untapped racing gold mine. Also your oval, well i like it i like it alot combiening oval & street in one track, & it would be in america, so it it would be something new that might capture a wider ordience, but i would then again i say use the banking, but thats just me.

I'm baaaack!!!

This is my first post since May 22 (due to computer problems, i.e. running real slow, computer not wanting to boot up after it's been shut off, viruses galore). I decided to modify the Silverstone track only because F1 raced there lst weekend. I like it the way it is, I just thought of basically lengthening the circuit by using the roads in the infield and adding a new straight. I moved the start/finish line and pit road to the new straight. No real reason as to why I did that, except it lengthens pit road, creating less congestion (if there is any now). I also created a shorter version of my track using the black line, in case my main track is too long. It still runs in a clockwise direction. What do you all think?

erm, well

Not bad as a circuit, but like 6.5 miles long...

I don't think congestion in the pitlane is a problem. Its pretty wide

interesting but youve destroyed it ... the best part of the tracks, maggots and becketts are gone, and the run-up to copse is gone too ..... yes i like the idea of that new pit-start if it is possible, i doubt it because there in indoor cart circuit outside 'bridge' ... i dont like it sorry

Something I'm working on, I've never been any good at figure eights that look right so I wanted your opinions. Brown is the rally cross track
Oh, and it's clockwise for the first part

I like it a lot Contains a lot of my favoured medium-speed technical corners, and only one slow hairpin. Like that last never-ending corner too. Great!

welcome back mandretti...your silverstone edit is a bit long as p pointed out, but I think I like it ...
It does of course destroy and track, and turn it into something totally different, but I don't know, I like it.
Below, I've done a little Silverstone edit as well, inspired by yours. YES, I know, it destroys the track, but I just felt like drawing one up.

CG, I like the small, and suttle changes you've made. I think they really help to improve the track.

P, I like it!!!...Nicely done, good job...

Here is the Silverstone edit:

Well, yes and no. I think the Priory, Brooklands bit is now too tight in the brooklands bit, but I can't disagree as such with the Becketts change, just I don't think it would improve matters for passing, the opposite in fact...

yeah, but that's like mini-roundabout tight. Brooklands is already about as tight as Bahrain's turn one (width of road taken into consideration)
I think something like Lustig did with the much tightened first part of Luffield would have the effect you're after.

Here's what I would do.
Sorry the light grey of the current track didn't quite show up properly.
First change is to reprofile Club, second to open up Brooklands, third to tighten Luffield's entry slightly to open up the exit more.

Well, now that P's dipped his feet in the fire and I'm not gonna get flamed for my views...

I gotta agree totally. Loosening Becketts/Chapel will have an adverse effect on passing down Hangar Straight, and might actually lessen the challenge if less direction change is required. And the complex just has an even more mickey mouse feel to it, with Brooklands far too tight.

Sorry Conrad and mandretti, don't like those versions either For the simple fact that passing is going to be near impossible. Don't like the chicane at the start of the lap, and on Conrad's the reprofiling/missing out of Bridge and Stowe is unnecessary.

P's looks a bit better, would improve the passing opportunities and flow a bit (although Club might not be so good now in the latter respect).

Here's what I would do with Silverstone ......... Return Abbey to its orginal form, move Pirory to the club straight thus opening up Brooklands, but I'd leave Luffield the same ..... why nobody knows

Didn't they demolish part of the banking and build a supermarket on top of where it once stood?
