With CDM and Servia there was never a contract signed with DCR. Junquiera is probably driving for prize money and while it's not said, everyone assumes that the series pays for DCR to operate.

Driver line up
If Junky continues to drive as well as he did Sun. he probably will stay. Without the fueling screw up he probably would have finished 3rd or even 2nd. DC needs those finishes and I would expect he gets some of the prize money. Good finishes make sponsor signing easier even on an individual race basis. Who knows in CC but the splits used to be 25%-75% to 75%-25% depending on driver's deal. Sometimes the crew even got 10% from the owners share. That would be when the owner got a bigger chunk. A few drivers would also give a bonus to the crew but that was never in the signed deal.

I haven't seen any numbers since last year, but the entire race purses were only $500,000 then. They couldn't have been splitting much.

The race purse for vegas was $465,000 with $75,000 going to Will Power for the win.
Bruno is being funded by the brazilian a1gp team and it's backers. |

^ Really? Why would the A1GP team backers pay for Junquiera in CC?!? Surely they cannot be paying the full cost?
Let's say that Junquiera can get $7k per race. Time 14 races that's $100k. It's not the kind of money he's use to, but one can survive on it. Does that sound unreasonable? |

May I ask you who told you that? Sorry, but it makes no sense at all. Moreover, I know "a few" people in the Brazil Team at A1. Bruno is running absolutely unfunded at Champ Cars. Coyne is only covering expenses like Bruno's lodging and meals. I know this from a person a DCR person - who lurks around here quite often. Cheers, Muzza |

Jan Heylen was at Zolder yesterday, and he gave an interview to a reporter of www.pitstop.tv (a Belgian site, it's all in Dutch).
He said he'll miss the first 3 races, but he has "good plans" for Portland. he's talking to Forsythe, Conquest, and Coyne adding some drivers there may not have the budget for more then 3 races. then he said there will be 2 new teams on the grid in Portland too, which have plans to field 2 cars, but maybe not at their first race |

TWO new teams? Surely he meant two extra cars for existing teams?

no, definately 2 teams
at first he says 1 or 2, but the reporter pushes and Jan adds he knows 2 new teams are working hard to get ready for Portland. then the reporter asks "with 2 cars each?" to which Jan replies: "those are the plans, but it might be hard [to get 2 cars each] ready for Portland" this is the link to the video: http://www.pitstoptv.info/pitstop/?page_id=430 second video (Zolder 2007: Testdag...), interview is around 2:20, if some people who speak Dutch want to check it |

I've heard of one, don't know about the other. And conquest I believe does have a 2nd car as well. People have been talking about 20 cars for Portland, so we'll see. If we pick up at least another 1 or 2 I'll be happy.

I know nothing about the current season, but three Atlantics teams are seriously considering making the jump to Champ Cars next year. However, since Panoz is "doing an extra effort" (guess who's helping with that? ) to bring its prices down, maybe some teams will add a car or two to the grid in 2006. Maybe.
If Champ Cars is still around next year - and I hope it will be - I do believe all these three Atlantic teams I mentioned above will move up the ladder. I'll let you guess the names, but I think it's pretty clear to anyone following Atlantics who I'm talking about. |
