I think there's two aspects. BMW doesn't want to compete with mainstream brands like Hyundai and Honda. And BMW doesn't want to compete with FWD cars.

As for Mini, I think that the Hatch and Aceman are too short for TCR regulations, and the Countryman is too tall.

It's weird though, are BMW 128ti drivers meant to have pride in their vehicle being an "Ultimate Driving Machine"TM or not? But BMW's choice.

Sub-TCR TC Lite category announced, incorporating existing rally4/5 regulations.

They tried this half a dozen years ago and it went nowhere, hopefully this proves more of a success.

It will help the cost of cars within the rallying groups. However, I can't see many people wanting to take a used rally car onto a circuit.
However, it has been a success within rallying and allows early OEM support to juniors - it would be great to see this happening in touring cars too.

Rally4 and Rally5 cars are way too expensive for the performance they have. Rally should copy TCR, not viceversa.

Existing series like Uruguay's superturismo (i love those little beasts) and Argentina's TN C2 that are infinitelly more flexible (basically everyone can make a car) why tie a series to the whims of manufacturers?

I looked at the photos and thought it look weird. Then I realised that this car is not for sale here in Uruguay, as the brand is focused on the double-ohs.

Ouch, only 8 cars for TCR Denmark this weekend.

Kind of wondering what's next for them. Can they go on with TCR? Or would it be a good idea to add the Rally4/5-based TCL cars in a second class? Or should they maybe even go back to the previous Trans-Am2 cars?

Malte Ebdrup also out after a crash in warm up.

I have to admit I didn't follow this or any other TCR series this year.
Last year the series had still good grid size.

Is there a series that uses Rally4/5-based TCL cars?

TCL has only been announced as a circuit racing ruleset this summer. So far, I don't think any series have been confirmed for it. Might be a dud for all we know, but with lots of cars already in existence, I think there's a better chance for it than for similar previous initiatives.

Except for some local (support) series I don't see this having big success, let alone to replace TCR as premier class. Touring car racing is in a difficult situation. I mean even in South-America they move to SUVs.

Yeah, the idea is not to replace TCR, but to provide a lower rung on the pyramid at a reasonable price - which might just work out with the availability of especially the R4 cars and a decent market for used cars.
