There's a few wrong things here, isn't there!

(1) Ford Performance did an excellent job with their 2019 Mustang package.

(2) Neither 888 nor any of their customers won BTCC championships with their Super Touring Vectras. They only came back to success when all the other major constructors like Prodrive and JAS Motorsport left the championship in 2001.

(3) Trakstar Racing were VERY competitive in the BTCC with DJR Sierras in 1989 & 1990. Robb Gravett won races regularly in these vehicles and was no less than the 1990 British Touring Car Champion. Though, of course, DJR did not particularly specialise in a customer car business like Rouse or Eggenberger.

To correct your correction, 888 in the UK was and still is (if it still exists) separate from the Australian operation, that was set up with different management etc - anything that happened with 888's cars in the UK was and is irrelevant to what the separate 888 has or has not done in Australia.

The reference to Sierras in the 1990s is pretty nebulous as well, given how long ago it was and that this discussion is about Supercars but you're not incorrect - those DJR Sierras were WAY better than the Sierras prepped and racing in the UK & no wonder Trakstar got onto them and did so well with them.

It says 888 on the banner and they are the ones who looked silly (ridiculous even?) when Peter Brock drove into a pit bay full of people, so it's the same team as far as I am concerned.

Something about poor preparation and not understanding the basics of racing the Bathurst 1000...

You have the chance to win Brock his 10th Bathurst 1000 against the might of Nemo Racing and Brad Jones Racing, yet Mr. Dane doesn't make sure the pit box isn't full of people! If Dane is there with headphones on in the garage (Mr. Warwick driving too, later found in the relabelled Briggs Motorsport garage), there is clearly some connection between the teams...

Well, you're completely wrong with the "same team" outlook - not the same team at all. Only link between the two different organisations was Roland but two that was it - the point was made many times by the team and Roland in particular over the years.

The time when they took liberties with the aero testing, such they could not replicate the numbers when a neutral driver was behind the wheel. Great job.

Then what happened 20 and 35 years ago... Irrelevant.

Larkham just said on TV how Mostert (and maybe most Fords) are running lower tire pressure which makes them slower on straights.

It should be clear at this stage the lastest parity thing is aero-related rather than engine-related. Last season the series worked at the engine first and it changed nothing on the grand scale until they tweaked the aero later in the season when the pro-Ford changes were finally noticed.

Ford had multiple changes at their request that were all "pro-Ford" but DJR didn't know what they were doing, so they changed something, didn't like it, and went back to what they had...

It wasn't like there were no changes until "late in the season"

Ford's main issue was the excessive tire wear which meant they were unable to extend stints by running in clear air once the early stoppers headed to pitlane.

Overall reducing the number of sprints actually could be viewed as "pro-Ford" move even if it happened by chance since the sprints have gotten way too predictable with only a single stop and drivers trying to make time in clean air rather than actually race each other.

Since DJR isn't even the best Ford team anymore the whole Gen3 homologation parity had a design flaw from the start tbh.

Ford's teams also had this issue in the Gen2 car.

Potentially not even 2nd or 3rd best.

You can't write this stuff, especially the sob stories all Bathurst sprint weekend about how hard the workload was on DJR for homologating and racing.

I did notice the past weekend the DJR cars looked to have that sixties style Mustang style dash. Waters car looked like the old plastic card dash was still in use. maybe it's fire proof?

None of them look as cool as the 888 unit with the electronic rotating sponsor screen in the middle of the Camaro…

I don’t know how you can do COg testing with that core piece different in every car..

Said to be as much as 80kg difference between all Mustangs.

Thought it was a technical parity-controlled catagory?
