That is a red herring either way. Maybe a professional organisation with the resources to allow a degree of competitor governance is the solution rather than a wealthy benefsctor?

Isn't Archer Capital ultimately the wealthy benefactor?

I wouldn't say that is an apples to apples comparison.

If V8SC can't provide a more suitable schedule (as opposed to SMP) and better pit facilities / access - I don't think what label you use will change some of the competitors angst Mixer. |

It will be better just because Supercars is the organising body, just ask their fans.

What would be great to see would be a franchise system for GT3 to generate income for the teams from naming rights partners and supporting championship sponsors. That's not a year one quick fix, but to create the possibility for teams to compete at all rounds snd perhaps have their tyre bill covered has to be a logical way forward.. |

You don't think that V8SC will push any interests via the category or that competitors will push their own agendas? |

Is that the solution to everything, Supercars takes over every category to "keep the peace" in Australian motorsport? Quote:
The important players in the series are not MPC, McElrea Racing or Maranello Motorsport, the important players are the businmen who fund those teams & others by wanting to go racing. They seem in most cases happy to fund the cars themselves or splash their business across the cars. Or is the Supercars solution to make AGT a "Professional" series with the removal of the Pro/AM driver requirement? AM drivers make GT3 racing, and GT racing in general, the world over go around. |

GT racing has to cater to the amateurs as well as the pros, it a fine rope to walk but without the gentlemen putting the cash in the championship would suffer. And I'm not just talking about the amateurs in the cockpit........ Hopefully Supercars taking over the management role recognises this because they have to. There are some very wealthy individuals in that series, if you **** them off, theyre going elsewhere, they're not used to people saying no to them. I hope Supercars keeps on the likes of Ken Collier and Mat Coch, they're individuals with a lot of passion for the series and they do their job well, it'd be a sad day to see them go. |

My thinking is around value creation. Having a limited number of licences to compete will assign them a some value by stealth. A driver can own a car and a licence, and onsell them to other people if/when they choose to do something else. It doesn't create a barrier to entry when an owner can sell it off at or near the acquisition price. Free tyres will help with running costs. Despite other views, in my experience, if something can be supplied for free, it relieves an argument about participating. |

What would you suggest is the solution for crash or mechanical damage that prevents a team from competing? Slug them with a franchise agreement breakage fine?

I am looking at it from the view of an incentive to compete rather than a stick for not doing so. That said, Supercar may not agree

Also not sure this sort of agreement can work in GTs because a lot of things are tied to the REC/chassis in Supercars. What's good for the goose not necessarily good for the gander, but lets hope that what does evolve out of this is some form of self-determination. |

Personally I think that it's WAY too early to be getting stressed one way or the other on a REC structure. No doubt there'll be plenty to talk about when the ACTUAL plans for category management are finalised and announced. |

How long now before we have a control chassis in Australian GT, with various Grand Touring bodies able to be dropped on top?
Quote:
GT racing is not touring car/Supercars racing. Why do we want to apply the same template straight onto another series? GT racing the world over is Amateur based, sprinkled with professionals on top. You cannot base a GT Championship around the professionals. |

the stand alone event (shannons) was also well below the previous years average also. Stop trying to throw stones at supercars and blame someone else. there are problems with gt3 in Australia. burying heads in the sand will not fix it |

Grid set from Q1 results due to no Q2: Bang the barrier - no session
Q1 results: Walsh on Pole Disappointing field. Don't buy into it having anything to do with next year's management structure but whatever the reason, disappointing. |
