Something "Completely Different"

This is wild: Follow the instructions.

Get ready to experience an hallucination.

1.- Click on the link
2.- Then "click me to get trippy",
3.- Look at the center of the screen for 30 seconds, and then.
4.- Look at your hand holding the mouse, without moving it away from the mouse... NOT before.

( it is called "cenesthetic hallucination")

Cue the Theramin, playing "Flying Saucer Music"

.

An 80gb panoramic image of london. If you click on the "Start Tour" tab there will be a split screen with a map on the left and the image sector highlighted. Close the advertisement box by clicking on the u/r corner. You know, scroll with the mouse when you are ready to view the panorama. . .

Another winner.
Though the big contruction in front of Tower Bridge is now a lot taller.
The "Shard of Glass" will be the tallest building in Europe.
Didn't realise the Olympic Stadium was so visible.

History, again

This year marks 100 years since Commander Theodore G. Ellyson, took to the air in experiments with a US Navy seaplane. He had begun his flight training the year before with Glen Curtiss.

Experiments demonstrating the ability to launch aircraft from ships as well as land them on ships had also taken place in 1910.

Japan launched the first ship-based air raids in September 1914. This was followed two months later by the first such event in the West, when British planes unsuccessfully attacked German targets.

Until this point, however, naval aviation consisted of catapult-launched seaplanes that landed on the sea and were returned to their ships with the use of cranes.

The world's first modern aircraft carrier was launched in 1916 by the British, so we still have another five years left before we mark the first centenary of the modern aircraft carrier.

GREAT GEOGRAPHY LESSON

It is amazing how often we speak of these countries and don't really know where they are. Click on the site below & then read the PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS & drag-the-country's-name from the list onto the map. There is no humbling score nor is there a time limit; this exercise is a geography learning tool. Don't fear making an error because you will. Once you finish the exercise, you will be far more educated about this very intense section of our world. You think you know the countries? Check your wisdom out at the below site!

Almost better than being there because you can see all the paintings up close without straining your neck.

TO VIEW EVERY PART OF THE MICHAELANGELO'S MASTERPIECE JUST CLICK Sistine Chapel, then DRAG the ARROW IN THE DIRECTION YOU WISH TO SEE (or drag with a mouse click in small increments, L/R/U/D lest you get dizzy)

In the low left, click on the plus (+) to move closer, on the minus (-)
to move away or use the scroll on your mouse. Choir is thrown in for free. Hold down the left clicker on your mouse to rotate the picture.

AMAZING. MOVE THE ARROW AND YOU WILL SEE EVERY PART OF THE CHAPEL.

This virtual tour of the Sistine Chapel is incredible. Apparently done by Villanova at the request of the Vatican, but I thought you would enjoy the quality and a bit of Rome on your computer.

Viva technology!

It's interesting - Southwark Towers [which was knocked down to make way for the Shard] was where I used to work, before we got moved out due to the Shard project being started.

The media latched onto a story a couple of months ago about a fox living in the Shard. Google Romeo the fox or see this link from the Metro:

I work quite close to "the Shard", so I have been watching it grow.
Progress from the picture dated April 2011, the crane in the middle (not the one on top) has been removed and all the glass has been put in place up to 6 floors below the top. Great weather, so they're making good progress.
