Indeed, thanks Bob.

I'm really sorry I had to back-out at the very last minute, but that's life. Someone cheerfully said to me "there will always be another time"

ER.... no there won't.

John, I barely recognise the little old 'boy' in the photo, i used to be 5ft 10 1/2, now I am 5ft. 4 1/2.
I have lost six inches in height, that makes 12 inches overall.

Gordon, don't bother with a disguise, people will thing you have come from the Eurovision 'Song' Contest.

Had the best day ever on Saturday. Got to drive the Comet 500 JAP. This was special as the car was used in period by Rodney Cummings who sadly passed away in February. His son Colin came along to the meeting with loads of old photos from his Dads racing days. We had a lovely couple of hours chatting. I ended up P7 in 500 class and was very happy with that result. Thankyou Stuart Wright who often post on here and all the members of the 500 association who have up their time so we could have a play.
Off to Enna Thursday morning but I am still buzzing from last weekends racing. Thankyou Graham Yates who came along to spanner and also lurks on this thread for the photos.

Agreed. And what a fantastic list of events attended.

Sorry to hear about your height problems but I suspect someone has redefined the length of an inch (and therefore feet, especially the size of feet.)

As the young ladies in your photo confirm, many young people seem to be remarkably tall in recent decades. (Whilst at the same time policemen seem to be getting smaller. Strange.)

When I venture to our local supermarkets there it always seems there are a significant number young and youngish people, of both male and female persuasion, to be observed and who must be well over 6ft tall. None of them seem to be speaking Dutch as one might expect at that height.

It must be something the Powers have been adding to baby milk for "fortification".

So my guess is that the young ladies in the photo were both about 6'6'' - before they put their heels on. So your 5'10'' ish still seems about right as far as the photographic evidence is concerned.

One could argue that Shaky has had a new lucrative career opened up for him because of his premature retirement from the riding. "Everything happens for the best in this, the best of all possible worlds."

I don't think this is behind a paywall, it's an interesting article on autosport.com about the brand Nova that's taking over the Avon assets.

Isn't or possibly wasn't there a race team in single seaters called Nova? I know we have discussed the tyre situation recently, but the Nova name just rings a bell from the past.

Think there was a Japanese manufacturer called Nova who made F2 & F3 cars in the 1970's
