The Eggenberger car would be my pick, assuming of course it was true to its original specification....
I always wondered what one of Ruedi's rockets would be like with a pukka Rouse engine in it.. with the seriously adjustable boost, and 620bhp capacity at its peak... |

It would be like the urban myth that Nasa bought a whole series of 286 computers off eBay to replenish the Space Shuttles because they didnt have the budget & capacity to redesign the systems aboard to handle the latest processors... ... but in 1992.... there were very few software programs around, certainly MoTeC hadnt pushed the boundaries very hard by then... the Nissan has an Electromotive ECU originally, twin turbos operating at incredible boost pressures, across a pop off valve.... ... out to a programmable powertrain, which managed where the power was distributed at the touch of a hot key..... using specialised softwares that would be so obsolete now it wouldnt be funny. The GIO GT-R is still in Sydney, in Mr Forbes' collection, probably parked next to his green eyed Monster |

As for boost pressures and twin turbos etc. They didnt run that high a boost level, because of that they ran a high compression ratio which was at odds to the Sierras with their low compression high boost setups. (explains the horrible driveability) I hear what you are saying, and sure they were more advanced then a VL Walkinshaw, but the road car is perhaps more advanced then the race car. Much of the function of the computers were overwritten on the race cars. Now the cost of turbo rebuilds, and the cost of lifing components would be expensive, but i would owe that to the fact it was about the heaviest and most powerful car in the field, so obviously was going to be hard on components. |

I think it is highly unlikely Terry Ashwod will ever race the GTR. Even at Clipsal this year he was only running 1 bar boost as he wanted to preserve the motor. The car is just to valuable to Terry!!
None of the V8 group A cars or Sierra's will be competitive against the likes of a group A GTR. GTR's with street trim and tyres are lapping 1.15's around Sandown which is 3 seconds quicker than current cars in Group A. These are cars running conservative boost pressures ie 1.6 bar and are super reliable. These cars are producing more power than the sierra's did in the day ie 400kw at wheels plus and will do it all day!!! Very uncommon for a GTR to go pop!!! |

Do we detect the dashing young man having a slight steering problem or is it the norm to slide it around

Things were OK with that car Gruncle, it was my M3 not the 635 on those bloody horrible old wets from the weekend. That was certainly entertaining from the driver's seat.

anyway david, in case you did not know already, that is it for the falcon. no more group c races for us. Nick has a falcon xy GTHO ph 3 under construction for the BIANTI series, as well as the sports sedan and the improved tourer falcon to play with, not forgetting george and his saloon cars plus customer cars to prepare and with the american thing under way, what time is available anyway! good to see that you got thru the shonky paperwork set up also. lucky we were given the heads up by some nice person at east malvern, as well as from eastern creek otherwise CAM$ would have driven me nuts. I was notified about the ambush just before we arrived on friday,so we had time to prepare. One day I will nail these peoples hide'(s) to the wall, for all to see and take note. This I will promise. |

I thought the only Fords CAMS plotted against were in V8Supercar, I hadnt realised they had also spread to the Group A/C community too |

I was told today the Biante cars had to change their windscreen stripes, was this true? If so, did the red and white stripe they were supplied with and reportedly forced to use, comply with the 5 th category regs? |

yes david,
I found that both brian and david were very helpful indeed, the scrutineering team, once they understood what was occurring, proceeded to scrutineer the car for safety compliance and were very apologetic in informing me that they could not apply the scrutineering pass sticker to the window until the paperwork was attended to. I also knew that this meeting was held under " national other " permit conditions, and was taken aback when during the hearing in front of the stewards, to be fined for not having the correct paperwork. due to a long drawn out Certificate of Recognition process I had, on behalf of Nick Karadimas, made an unofficial undertaking that the car would not be entered in any event that was run under "historic" conditions or required a permit of any description to enter. this agreement is still in effect from my position anyway. I have since been informed that one of our fellow competitors actually rang CAM$ to notify the historic commission that the car was running. The team had made both a verbal and written contract with Muscle Car Magazine much earlier in the year to run the white falcon at this meeting and we carried out that contract to the best of our ability whether or not that upset our fellow competitors in Group C/A was of no concern to me, and it remains so. Basically if you want to show off your pretty cars,by all means do so. but not at the expense of people who want to race their cars and really, after all,the car is just a tool to do the job at hand, which is to race, and also to entertain the paying public. If it gets bent just fix it and run again!!!! |
