Fantastic! GT2 wouldnt be the same without Spyker. So that scraps any thoughts of a GT1 entry as rumoured?

Why would you build a GT1 car if that can only run in FIA GT1 World Championship and nowhere else...not even at Le Mans.

But Spyker was pondering going to GT1? I'm glad sensibility won the battle in their minds and not only will they continue to grace GT2 with that beautiful car, but next year we get to see something a bit different and new, but just as great.

The first Ailerons will still have the Audi engine. The Aileron GT2-R will probably be based on that Audi engined Aileron. That way the Squadron can still use their familiar Audi based, but in house developed, race engine as a result, instead of having to develope a complete new GM based race engine.

That's not sure at the moment! The first (road) Aileron's that are being build will stil use the 4.2 V8 from Audi and in the future they will switch to the GM LS9 engine. So they can choose which engine they will use.
My guess is that in 2011 they will use the Audi engine and switch in 2012 to the GM engine. But that is just a guess... |

Wow, I really had to dig deep to find this thread again...
So, anyone has any news about the racing intentions of this coveted little mark ? I read a small but very positive article about the new Saab 95 in EVO magazine in which they awarded the new car with a 4 out of 5 star rating. Add to that the fact that Spyker stocks have seriously increased in value during the last few months and one can't help but hope for a nice financial injection in the Spyker squadron. |

The team's official Twitter feed did say on that the team generally announces its racing plans at the Geneva Motorshow. This would probably exclude a ILMC entry, but LMS and Le Mans? Entirely possible.

I do hope they will be around this year.
Wonder if they'll use the same car or the new Aileron. So we can put early March in our calendars for a potential presentation. |

We should also expect to see a part of their plans if they are announced as part of the entry list for Le Mans itself.

All I have seen from them this year thus far is trying to flog some 2011 merchandise. At least it is 2011 stuff...

No racing for Spyker Squadron in 2011. Instead they develop the C8 Aileron and return on the tracks in 2012.

It makes a lot of sense to be honest. Like the interview says the current car is fully developed and would only drop further off the pace this year. At least Spyker are maintaining their commitment to going racing.

Nice to see Spyker moving on to the Aileron. Reading the press realise, it seems that they will build cars for other classes if there is demand.
With Spyker now owning Saab, hopefully if things go well for the two companies, we might see the team having some more money to play around with. |

That Aileron should look fantastic in race form.
It will certainly make up for this year without the beautiful Spykers out there. |

Here they say that they delayed the road car a bit to go with the Corvette ZR1 engine for all cars instead of switching engine later on. So the GT2 car will have the Corvette engine too

Bad news. Spyker Car has sold its sportscar businnes to CPP Global Holdings Limited, which is lead by Vladimir Antonov, and will focus on Saab.
