I'm not really in a position to comment on that, I lasted about 10 minutes of Round One and got bored.

Delayed coverage, Volt TV to produce.
Nothing to do with Volt. Not DT either, so dont have to be einstein to work out who is doing it.

Things have obviously changed, at the time of posting that was the latest

Still think its the wrong way to go for them in terms of expansion in our market here in NZ. Time will tell I suppose.

Apart from the cost of the live satellite feed I would be interested to know what the cost savings would be going from live to delayed. You still have to have the staff to film it and still have to film it so where do all these savings come from.

It's WAY cheaper - OB units are REALLY expensive to hire and run, a coupe of cameramen (say three) using tape is not that much for a weekend, less than 25% of the cost conservatively. My mate used to work for TVNZ's Moving Pictures and took me through their OB unit for the V8SC at Puke a few years ago. That setup was $100k for the weekend and that was back in the early part of the decade...

GB, correct, the OB is a very expensive unit, both to hire, cable, staff etc, not 100K, but still a very expensive exercise nonetheless.

There are additional cost's to splice and edit the tape's, but it's no were near the OB's over all gross cost.

So, still no clarification on the TV package. Personally I think on_to_it may be right and that I am being a bit harsh here. I shall wait until Volt do their first production and see how it goes (assuming it is going to volt?). I think if they stick with the same graphics, commentary team, and huge in-car camera resource and the ability to stitch it all together, then it should be good.

But some clarity on the delayed broadcast would be nice, especially considering that V8ST have been so up front in the past.

Unfortunately it seems as though it is the dodgy one with the poor quality production that has received the nod... shame really but hopefully its temporary

ST TV & ownership

So ST have gone from same weekend TV coverage to getting Ian Rawkins to provide a cheap solution of TV coverage. What is this saying about the financial viability of the series? Is this TMC all over again? I have heard that the ownership of the ST company has changed and Mark Petch and co been forced out! Hope Ray and the guys have a cunning plan to keep the series going??

would it be correct to conspire to believe that a fair amount of the success of NZST series II , was hinging on bullying their way onto the V8SC billing ??

if i am totally incorrect, why then, was there a massive gap in their race schedule between rounds other than to allow people to lose some of their enthusiasm for following the series ??

NZST is rapidly becoming easily as forgettable as NZV8's.......... which speaks volumes about the "new kid on the block".

best they get their heads out of their jacksies and create some real excitement........... and fast !!!!!

Bit behind the 8-ball CCC - they appointed a new CEO and MD in Nov last year.

Yes it does look like a change in ownership, Mark Petch and Chris Abbott seem to have increased there shareholding
