Toyota continuing to spank everyone. Will see how the race pans out but expecting similar to Sebring.

Vanwall looked quicker in FP3, they were slower and in quali.

That’s a big gap. Interesting, when they went out they seemed to push more to get the tyres going earlier. They were very confident to just get going.
The remaining order is similar. Except Cadillac seem a little off. Perhaps not benefiting from having more cars at the track? Peugeot getting a bit closer. |

We all are. But we have to recognise that it's still very early days.... Even the ardent Porsche supporters need to appreciate that they don't have a divine right to win....

Brendon Hartley's thoughts on race pace
“It felt really good. We’ve put some effort into Qualifying set-up this time, Ferrari annoyed us by taking pole at Sebring. We expect Ferrari to be closer in the race as they have focused on long runs. I knew the lap was good, I knew it would be hard against Kamui,” Hartley said after stepping out the car. https://www.dailysportscar.com/2023/...-portimao.html |

Bit of a fuss here. Not able to get onto grid walk, despite tickets being sold as tower, paddock, pit and grid.
This on top of being refused entry with cameras yesterday, but today no bag checks and cameras everywhere! Time to put all that behind and enjoy the race! |

The #93 Peugeot is already hobbled and didn't make the grid. |

That's terrible! What is the rationale for that? I saw Zandvoort F1 last year had a ban on big lenses (kinda makes sense in packed grandstands). But no cameras entirely is a new one.

I think it depends which of the security staff scanned you in. Mine is a bridge camera, but still wouldn’t allow , apparently they didn’t want me profiting from any photos I might take. I tried to show him a shaky example of my “photography “ but that didn’t help

Peugeot not looking good at all on the track, completely out of the mix.

Buemi gets past Calado after a couple of laps. Vanthoor stuck between both Ferrari's.
WRT & Prema LMP2 still ahead of the Glickenhaus. |

Mechanical failures are not only forgiveable, but expected. But this is twice now that a Peugeot has failed to even start the race.

Toyota leaving everyone for dust. As well as proving how good Toyota are, it also highlights how competent Rebellion, Alpine and Glickenhaus have been.

Currently behind the leading two LMP2s. They'll get past as the race continues, but I fear Glickenhaus have had their day in the sun already and "only" have a LM podium to show for it.

Absolutely, that’s why I used the past tense. They absolutely maximised what they had in ‘21 and ‘22, but seem to have nothing left in the tank to make another step in ‘23.

Hopefully they get everything left from the 007 at Le Mans, and then I suspect Jim will call it quits. It's the perennial privateer-manufacturer conundrum for the ACO. Both United cars have come alive now, 1-2 in LMP2. |
