ALAIN PROST!!

That should be awesome
Alain Prost vs Rene Arnoux all over again

Sure hope they come to Montreal

Is this a short thing? or are they planning to have it for ever?
I'd sure like to see Jacques Villeneuve join this.

Zytek were originally due to build the car, but now it says a company called Delta Motorsport will be building them (IIRC they raced Radicals now)

Nelson Piquet and Keke Rosberg should join up as well.

If only they could get Mario Andretti...

The rules say aged 45 plus, so that rules out Zanardi, Herbert and Villeneuve for a few years.

You could spawn F1 Veterens out of this and have Moss and Brabham racing electrified wheelchairs around a specialy modified nursing home circuit.

Apologies Adam. I thought as this was a press release, rather than an article there wouldn't be a problem with reproducing the whole thing in full, but the website link does the trick

According to www.grandprix.com Delta Motorsport was formed in the summer by former Reynard employees.

There's a mention somewhere that they are being put together by Oxford Racing at Silverstone on behalf of Delta

I know what the series is and I have not got it confused with the two historic F1 series I saw at Silverstone last weekend.

If you don't want to discuss it, don't. It is a slightly different kind of 'historic' instead of seeing old cars, we are seeing old drivers. Surely that is interesting in itself?

However now we have a thread that is neither. It is a pointless discussion about where a thread should be and not about motorsport. A shame. If you wish to discuss it further please contact myself or another moderator by PM.

This is going to be a cool series! I wish they would come to Laguna Sega. To see Prost, Patrese, De Cesaris, Arnoux, Johansson back in an open wheel car will be awesome! I hope Derek Warwick, Jean-Pierre Jarier and Gehard Berger come back as well....

I think Prost and Johansson will fight for the title. Johannason is doing very well in Grand-Am. I also can't see guys like Capelli & Patrese, who haven't driven anything in 10 years be that competitive right away. I think guys like Lammers and Johannson will be quick straight away.

I'd hate to see either of these heros in this series (I doubt if they'd be asked or accept if they were); they are both in their mid 70's and were at their peak 45 years ago. I love seeing them in the occasional historics and they both drove beautifully in the wet at the Goodwood Revival a few years back but they were in cars of their era in an environment that suited them, where we got a brief glimpse of why they were great in the first place. No way would I want to see them in a quick modern single seater. It wouldn't be awesome; it would be sad. In fact, I don't think there should be any drivers in this series that retired from top flight racing before 1975, at the earliest.
