Excellent. Who needs one of those internet translation thingies. From now on the Finnish Paddock shall be rechristened varikko. I can see a rich vein of jokes about that too.

Unusual race stoppages
Over the years several races at Mosport had to be stopped because turn 9 became flooded. About a foot and a half deep at the inside apex.
An open practice also was stopped for a cow in turn 9. At Harewood Acres open practice often entailed stoppages while the sheep were herded off. |

Re:unusual Race Stoppages
I'm not sure I should admit this, but in the 80s my wife and I were marshals at Snettertonfor the 750 MC,and our post was Riches. Any way the green flag lap had just started, when all of a sudden red flags started to appear .Much embarrassment to both of us when we found out our two race mad sons,then7 and 11 had decided to run from the car, alongside the track to the bank where the marshals post was then situated!they were on the proper side(i.e.the spectators) of the fence, it was just that some "eagle-eyed" marshal at the post before ours thought they had invaded the circuit.Hence an abrupt end to a FFord race. That was the beginning of a chain of events that made us realise we were not intended to be motor racing marshals!

as i can remember but fazza will tell it better than me as he was one of the guys involved. at this years cscc meeting at oulton park a rover sd1 batted into the hizzy's chicane part of knicker brook and locked, trying to get stopped very quickly, when the lads got to the car the driver, a small bit panicky announced there was a large bee in the cockpit and could they get rid of the little critter as he was alergic to them. the job duley done the driver carried on his way............. not a race stop but an odd one non the less
i belive the greatfull driver of the car offered the guys hot rides at one of the track days for their assistance, what a nice fella. |

I don't remember this incident but the first time I went to Thruxton a female parachustist landed in the trees out the back near Goodwood and had to be rescued by the marshalls. Made the national papers IIRC. |

I remember a race at Donington being stopped as the 5 second board went up. The clerk thought he could switch on the start lights from race control by pressing the big red button, saving his deputy the job out on the windy gantry.
Red lights appeared all round the circuit along with red flags. |

Mini racing at Pembrey was once stopped on the gridding lap after one of them spun and broke it's rear suspension. They obviously don't build them like they used to! Not the most unusual one but one of the more unusual times!

But also at Pembrey, during free testing.
Clubmans session was red flagged,on the restart, the clubmans were released from pit lane. But due to a mis comunication, assembley also released the BMW`s at the same time. the quickest flag session i`ve ever seen |

At a BTCC test day at Thruxton about 10 years ago I uttered the following radio message.......
'Priority, Priority. Control from Post 12. A plane has crashed!' For some reason the red flags appeared VERY quickly. |

I also seem to remeber a test session at Thruxton a few years ago when a airplane decided to use the track between post's 11 and 12 to turn around on before take off! cant remeber if it brought the red's out though.
Not a stop but I also remeber a formula ford stoping in the chicane during a test session so the driver could ask the marshall where the pit enterance was! |

Practice for the Historics at the British GP Silverstone a few years back when they re profiled Club and Stowe corners designating one layout for F1 and most supports and and another layout for the Historics. Alleged someone forgot to change and cone off the F1 bits. Both layouts were in use for a couple of laps.Interesting !
