I'm led to believe that at least one car, possibly two were under construction at VLR but umm... "disapeared" around the time Vic was arrested. Now doubt they'll turn up in a barn somewhere eventually.

Didn't Menards take over the Brilliance project?
BTW Is the Menards facility in UK sold to Aguri Suziki/Preston? |

I thought that Menards provided engineering support to Brilliance after the collapse of VLR, but didn't actually take over the project. GrandPrix.com reported that Super Aguri had acquired the Leafield facility.

I just read in Marketing that Lada has been handed to the state exprt agency which is part of the military. Apparently all the director of AutoVAZ were sacked and the members of the export agency have replaced them.
How will that effect the WTCC effort? |

All it means is they'll have a very disciplined pit crew.

Does anyone know if the 2-litre engine used in Chevrolet Lacetti WTCC car is actually the same Opel C20XE unit as in Lada 110 (VAZ 21106)?
AFAIK Chevy engine is a Holden made GM "Family II" motor but does it differ from old Opel version? And if it's the very same engine, will FIA allow larger valves and higher compression ratio to Lada too (as they did for Chevy in Macau)? |

I'm not sure if this was already mentioned but apparently there'll be an american driver! This doesn't sound very clever idea while Lada isn't sold in US and americans aren't very interested on WTCC. How ever they have hired a marketing agency that thinks so:

IMO a strange decision because Lada isn't sold in US and there is also no US WTCC race. |

There was talk about Alfa Romeo coming back to NA sometime in '07-'99, possibly distributed by GM? There was talk about Yugo coming back to? But for some reason, I wonder why hasn't VW snapped Yugo up? |

They don't sell Lacetti's in America do they? As for brand awareness, maybe they'll wait till the cars are at least regularly in the top eight before they brag about it. |

The Lacetti programme is geared toward the European market (and run by Chevrolet Europe, in order to popularise the new brand) so Chevy N/A probably couldn't care less.

On the other hand, those Daewoo engines were probably also based on old GM units. Daewoo and GM used to cooperate a lot in the 80's and 90's. Quote:

But there's no 2.0 engine in offer - at least in Europe. Biggest is 1.8.
BTW while checking this I realised, there no a word about WTCC program on Polish Chevrolet site... |

OTOH, Chevy NA probably care more about promoting their Chevrolet Cobalt (based on the European Astra). |
