well i try to get to 5 or 6 aswelll ... and yes its expensive and I am just happy to see what ever I can of the other rounds and sit here with my laptop on and watch the live timing so at least I know whats happening with all the drivers in the field not just the ones the tv channels deem it fit to show, and that includes the positions all the way through to 31.

Off again
Again 7 & 10 rejected Foxtel 's bid - this time the sticking point was a Foxtel demand for exclusive rights to certain games in WA & SA, where Foxtel subscriptions are struggling.

I thought Packer had a big ego but Stokes takes the cake.

Packer is the one with the biggest ego...according to the press it is Packer stopping Fox Sports from making the deal happen....looks like 7 and 10 will be doing all the games meaning v8s will have to be finished by about 1pm on sundays when there is a clash

You remember Kerry Packer & the 9 sponsorship of the KB Camaro - dont remember James doing anything for motorsport. There would no Cat sponsorship if Kerry Stokes had not supported the factory when it kicked in for the only WA based V8 team with John Bowe steering - Kerry is Australia's biggest Cat dealer billy. Remember the B sponsorship - a Stokes company. Sure Richo ran with Westrac sponsorship on his Porsche. To compare Kerry Stokes unfavourably with James Packer billy, pray tell, why? |

Sorry Barney - make that 2pm. According to The Age today, ch7 will be showing AFL from 2pm each Sunday. having to finish by 2pm on the weekends there is a clash is not a good outcome for v8s.
Could be worse but its not the massive leap forward that TC said it is. |

Once again ... Da Moo ...you make it sound like it is the majority of rounds that are affected.
All this rumour mongering does absolutely nothing. Have another look at the schedules and as VESA have said the traditional programing of event s will change to mean more live racing on TV. |

In the the context of the AFL deal it seemed odd to me that 7 would knock back receiving $50M a year from Foxtel as opposed to giving games away to ABC/SBS/Ch31 for nothing. Ultimately if it means we see qualifying & Race 1 live I'll be happy. |

its not rumour mongering its just fact. there are going to be a number of clashes and im sure there will still be live coverage but it just means v8s get shunted to earlier in the day and i dont think that is a very good outcome - thats all i have said since the start.
You have your own opinion and I have mine. I would love to know what the sponsors think - they may be 'ok' with it but do you think this outcome is the sensational broadcast deal that was promised - it is still a good financial one and I think overall its not too bad but it could be better and it still may happen if fox sports did happen to do a deal with 7 and 10. |

They could also scrap the AFL post match and the telecast could start at 4:45pm. For Eastern and Central state games working around the AFL shouldn't be too much of a problem. I think the WA games may be more of an issue to work around. |

Both 7 and 9 have shown a great reluctance to move from the 6pm newslot during ratings season, whereas Ch10 has shown numerous times that news isn't important to them. It was written somewhere that Ch10 will have the twilight game slot. |

channel ten will have the twilight game, because they have two games on sundays. so they will have a game ataround 1ish another straight after that, it would be fifficulkt to do a game at 2 and then the twilight game, as there just isnt the time

The last thing we need is "split" coverage - screw watching a race at 10 then waiting until 5 to see the next one.
With the Foxtel deal dragging on I am getting more convinced the move to secure the rights to the V8's may have more to do with protecting the AFL than developing motorsport. With the only viable, non football, winter competition in the back pocket 7 has certainly cornered the market in March - Nov weekend TV. |

Most liked this scenario at the time, as it gave us some live racing. |
