Subject: Re: Corvette Chassis Numbers

Dear David,

Corvette C5R, chassis 007 is sold to AT Racing in Austria and will be running by Renauer Motorsport Austria
Corvette C5R, chassis 005 is still in our workshop for sale.
We bought a new Corvette C6R, chassis 006, this will be running in FIA GT and FFSA (French Championship). In FFSA the drivers are Ayari Soheil and Bruno Hernandez.
FIA GT (drivers) will be announced next week.

Greetings,
Maryse Lesire

On a side note, for those of you who would like to see a corvette factory car remain in its original colors after its time with P&M is done you should know that 2006 Lemans entrant #64 is now owned by what appears to be a private collector and was racing at a Historic racing event last weekend in its full 2006 Lemans trim.
Sorry, somebody is pulling your leg. The chassis that ran as the #64 car in the 06 Le Mans race is chassis # C6R-004 which is owned By Luc Alphand Aventures and just finished testing at HTTT Paul Ricard.

Oh don't get me wrong Horndawg I'm not doubting your knowledge on the chassis I just don't know which other C6r this could be. I got a good look at it and after looking under the hood it is definitely a factory car. Do you have any idea what car this might be?

The only C6.R that I am not pretty sure of is the PSI chassis C6R-002. Have not seen anything announced for them yet and both Peter and Hines (07 drivers) are at Gigawave this year so? But I would be surprised if they got rid of the car and it was not on the net somewhere, already.

Sportscarguy08 I'm guessing it would have to be a show car since all of the race chassis seem to be accounted for. They must have got a hold of a drive train though because it was not the show car "generic small block" that is put in the GM show cars.

I guess I should also state now that I am sorry for coming on the board and making a false statement within my first few posts. I am much more versed in GTP/Group C and WSC car chassis #'s and current locations etc... than I am on current or recent alms and lms race cars. I just spotted this C6r at a race last week and the fact that it may have originally been a show car didn't even cross my mind. Again I apologize

No worries mate, it happens. I only know this because my friend works for Corvette Motorsport, and knows all the chassis. Below are some images of a European Showcar that was lent out for a little bit. It was used for promotions (maybe similar), and was also driven around:

Has that Riley-Scott GT2 Corvette been on the track yet? It seems to me if it hasn't, they really can't be too serious about being competitive at Sebring as that is a very tough track for even the most tested of cars.

It will be. The sports car racing history of Riley and LG plus the unlimited technical support from GM Performance Division, and Corvette Racing, should help a bit. wink

BIG time. This year looks to be the biggest, best, and most competative season yet. Corvette Motorsports teams over there are increasing by the minute. Callaway recently had a shakedown of their new C6 GT4. Images can be found Here.

Personally, I stopped watching the ALMS GT1 at the end of the 2006 season (too many people arguing and not just racing). The FIA GT series is where its at when talking about Corvette against a berage of various cars and teams.
2008 will be great for all! (in Europe )

That's the same one that was used in the 2006 Le Mans victory parade in which they drove the car through the streets of downtown Detroit. It definitely had all the right hardware and made all the right sounds. I'm not sure how they classify the show cars though.

That is chassis 04. Luc Alphand and crew came over to test their new car at Sebring while the factory team was testing as well, before taking the car back to Europe for an LMS assault. It looks to be Luc Alphand in the car in that pic.

Sorry for all the dead links to my C6.R Corvette Racing History info and photos. My site has undergone a long and painful conversion from the MS FrontPage very obsolete software to the latest and greatest (I hope) WordPress software. That was not just a simple replacement, but an entire concept shift. Without some exceptional cyber friends, the whole thing may have died.

All of my original Corvette Racing information should be there and I will eventually begin to catch up on the latest. I have depended heavily on the 'Corvette Motorsport' site for European Corvette racing news and chassis numbers but they have not done much with numbers lately.

My inside contact at P&M has changed and is much less forthcoming about advanced chassis number info.

And my final excuse, I have become both webmaster and 2012-2013 President for one of my way-too-many other (very British) hobbies, so even retirement doesn't allow all the time I need to do what I'd like.

Thanks to all of you who have kept the info flowing, let's keep digging!
