I've only gotten to play it for a little bit, but thus far I'm in love.
Pluses: - Proper race weekends with adjustable length - A.I. doesn't seem too bad and gives me a good challenge even on medium (I suck), they also race each other and make mistakes. - Career looks like it's fairly big Negatives: -The handling doesn't feel all that great compared to GT, but it's something I'll probably get used to (wasn't expecting a sim, but it's what I'm used to) - While the A.I. is good, it seems there is quite a bit of rubber banding. - A.I. is extremely aggressive Last edited by Hendrix; 25 Jun 2014 at 20:16. |

Currently downloading. Very very hungover. Looking forward to getting stuck in to a good single player campaign. It's been a long time since I've done that!

I'm a bit disappointed that it still feels a bit GRID2 'slidey' where I was hoping for something that felt a bit tighter like RACE Pro or the old Toca games. But otherwise it's like a racing fan's dream game in that everything is customisable so you can set up a full championship with all cars unlocked from the start, pretty decent approximations of the BTCC (well, minus most of the UK tracks), Indycar, F3 and the DTM (well sort of, without BMW), the racing feels pretty well tuned with a good level of difficulty, the crashes are still pretty good and it just generally feels like the kind of racer we haven't had for a long time.
Graphically it's not amazing, but that was always pretty secondary for me. I'm not bothered about a technical tour de force particularly not on an old gen console. Solid 8/10 so far I think. |

When I played that game, the handling was like Race Driver GRID IMO.

Hmm. Still finding the handling a bit loose and arcadey. More impressed with MotoGP14 which I bought almost on a whim but is a massive upgrade on the last one, even if only on PS3.

I'm downloading this now and for my machine (PC) it comes with a high rez download package so hopefully shouldn't look bad graphically. I use a ffb wheel so hoping for good things in the handling dept. I'll post my thoughts after I've had a few hours play. |

So how's it looking now the novelty of 'new toy' has worn off? Is it what we'd hoped for? Or is it another let down?

I did get told off by the game at the weekend for making it too easy for myself (I just left the AI difficulty on the default when I started the game) which I actually thought was pretty funny.... |

I really like the Indycars. You get a real sense of speed and panic when there's a wall looming, it all feels so quick and your reactions need to be spot on. In the F1 games it all seems a bit slow and controlled sometimes. It reminds me a bit of the old EA F1 games, but with much better handling. It's really good fun racing because you know that one touch and the race will be screwed completely (aside from the fact you get unlimited flashbacks obviously)
Any way of introducing pitstops though? I can't find any way. |

I still like it, the only issue is having more than an hour or two a week to play it.

I love the Autosport road circuit in the Dallara DW12 - trying to nail the first three corners (long left handers) flat. Thelast one suddenly throws a barrier straight in your face on the right and watching the AI have some huge accidents there is quite satisfying, although you have to react like lighting to avoid getting tangled up in it.
I think I love this game, it's pure racing and when you get the hang it feels so organic, like the old TOCA games used to. |

I'm going to give it a demo, but I don't believe you from what I have seen from the game play videos. They look absolutely shocking. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. |

I'm really enjoying this, big improvement on Grid 2. ie; If you go too sideways, your times actually suffer now. TFFT!
Looks very pretty, great sensation of speed (PC version with high rez pack and over 120FPS) Its still not a proper sim as such but the improved physics are a big step in the right direction and unlike the last Grid game thankfully you now have some proper decent circuits like Spa etc and a basic car set up menu which helps it offer a good balance between fun and realism. Its not perfect by any means (Pace adaptive AI needs sorted out) but you now actually have some desirable old classic cars to drive such as the old Mazda 787B as well as the excellent modern Dallara . m355y- Please give me a time to aim for in the Dallara. I love it, it takes me back to the last good Race driver 3. Anyone put off by screen shots dont, it's well worth a go, it will also take a lot longer than a week to complete.

For anyone who has been holding off on this for price reasons, Steam are doing a Codemasters sale this weekend and Grid Autosport can be had for half price - £14.99. Bargain for this game in my opinion
