Originally the Asian Touring Car Series, which plodded along with grids of about 12 cars for years before it ended. It was taken over by IMSP (Danny Stacy Chau) in 2012, renamed to Touring Car Series in Asia and entries started to increase. Subsequently, he ran TCR Asia, which in its 4th season last year only attracted 10 points-eligible entries, of which only 7 completed the full season.

On last years other driver form/ ability to actually drive race distance Dan could still get some podiums then! Maybe Sports Direct can sponsor him to the tune of a few good pairs of running shoes... |

have I missed something? is this series now dead?
it’s now near the end of january and how many teams or drivers have actually confirmed they are racing? two? the almost total silence about this series (from the organisers and the competitors) is amazing for a series that should be ramping up for its second year. |

It's going to be Dan Lloyd jogging around a racetrack on his own.

not much different to last year really, around Autosport show they were claiming to be over subscribed and I seem to recall even a suggestion they would have to have prequalifying sessions! Nobody however was confirmed, Motorbase had their Golf which soon got shifted on and a few people went sniffing around and then opted not to take part then what did we have, 6 cars for media lanuch? Ive seen nothing this year, I think the 2 or 3 decent drivers who arent Dan Lloyd will be doing TCR Europe, and the few that turned out now and again will be on the TCT series. |

Lewis Kent is planning on running their Hyundai in the UK alongside a TCR Iberia programme, budget permitting. That's the closest to an TCRUK entry so far I believe.

As far as I recall SWR, Motorbase, West Coast and a few others were offering drives, whilst Lines, Lewis Kent and Carl Swift were the only confirmed entries this time last year. |

a quick google search threw this one up https://www.autosport.com/national/n...debut-calendar 27 teams were interested in Sept 2017 (TEAMs not cars/drivers) and they were apparently already making decisions on what they were going to do about Qualifying A and B should they reach 40 entries to make sure everyone got a fair amount of track time. That dropped to 7 cars on Media day and an average grid of 9 |

Entries into what? A raffle? Tcruk looks as viable as Jason Plato and Matt Neal being best of buddies.

A guaranteed trophy for all, free of charge. Carefully handcrafted by Chinese craftsmen using the finest quality plastic.
Alternatively, save mucking about in a car and simply pay one low charge of 99p inc. P&P on ebay. |

Apart from Lewis Kent, I've not heard any drivers being linked with TCR UK, much less committing to it.
And yet the organisers are still claiming qualifying will be multiple sessions, with drivers being eliminated. |

Ten rounds. Ten qualifying sessions. That's multiple sessions. Tick.
Drivers being eliminated... with budgets coming & going and poor standards of driving, that's drivers being eliminated. Tick. |

Are they keeping things from us, then giving us a big surprise just before the first round?

Apparently, directly from the BRSCC:
"TCR UK haven't opened entries yet, however they will be looking to do so once their upcoming announcements have been made within the next few weeks or so." |
