Marquez is certainly no saint but his bike control is just incredible.

It was a boring race but the track doesn't really work for exciting racing on TV IMHO. However Marquez certainly got it all together this time and showed how good he is.
It was good to see 3 different bike manufacturers on the podium this time at least ! |

Looks like the others should be worried, Marquez looked unbeatable, even with the quali penalty, although Crazy Joe gave it a good go

It was also good to see Maveric back at the front after a low period, as for Lorenzo will he ever sort himself out with the Ducati ? also what's the betting he will still be with them next season ?
I wonder how many people in the UK (APART FROM FANS) can name any English MotoGP riders ? Marquez is a household name down here in Spain ! |

Cal Crutchlow has 3 wins and 14 podiums in 126 races. Hardly a star.
Bradley Smith and Scott Redding have two podiums each out of +70 races. |

Good spot, certainly puts a different perspective on his stats. It's certainly not the lack of trying! If only he wouldn't keep falling off!

I think that we're witnessing the career of future greatest of all time, not just "great". Not that I'm well versed in MotoGP, but I have a hard time believing there will be anyone close to Marc in terms of mental strength, competitive spirit, bike control, execution etc. He's out of their league, which says a lot.
And I'm a Lorenzo fan but dammit Marc is undeniable. Even Rossi's "mind games" (sounds so cringe nowadays) didn't phase him one bit, in fact from Sepang '15 it just created more problems for that yellow Ago record chaser Lorenzo seems to be completely out of sync. I'm not sure if this could be attributed that good ole infamous "Ducati learning curve" argument, or is he completely mentally out of it, unmotivated and indifferent. His instagram posts are always about motivation, spirit, fighting, training non stop, hard work etc haha...but come race weekend, he's out. And I don't see him jumping into form out of the blue any time soon. Perhaps he'll make some mediocre result on some Ducati-friendly track, but only if everything aligns to his taste, from weather conditions to grid. Not sure how to feel about Suzuki rumors...good or bad. If that happens it'll be a bad look, and more pressure, and if he doesn't deliver on Suzuki...yikes |

With Marquez, it is like watching a magician at times, like it was with Rossi, he always seems to bounce back from bad races too. And Lorenzo really needs to rediscover that form he had at the end of last season, otherwise it’s gonna be difficult for him to justify his place in the team

Not shabby at all. But he got just four podiums in 2016 and one in 2017. It's not bad, but far from enough to become a national star.

My apologies... I forgot his win at the British GP in 2016.
It hardly diminishes from what is for a satellite team rider an impressive record in recent years. If only Crutchlow did not fall off so often it might be even more impressive. It is also nice to have on your CV that you are the first British rider since the great Barry Sheene to lead the MotoGP World Championship. I know he no longer leads the title but nothing will ever take away the fact that he did and was the first Brit since.... |

Crutchlow is the best British hope at the moment. His crashes are more down to him trying to make the bike go faster

People are very hard on Cal
He is the first to admit he is not on the same level as the best guys, he simply has the grit and determination to try. He has cut out the crashing a little, but COTA was tough, the weather on race day was different to every other day that weekend, and that is always likely to induce crashes. |

Speaking of which, it's been a long time since a British rider has claimed a top 10 in Moto2.

There was not really any Moto2 UK representation last year with Kent only entering a couple of rounds IIRC and Lowes moving up to MotoGP. Admittedly Kent and Lowes have been MIA this year, with no top 10 finishes, although they have both scored minor points this year. |

I see Cal Crutchlow has broken the outright lap record at Jerez on his way to securing pole position for the Spanish MotoGP. World Champion Marquez on the factory Honda could not even crack the front row.

Pedrosa second and Zarco third !! I do hope Cal can do it tomorrow but Marquez will go all out to win. unfortunately I shall miss it live as I have another job to do but as I'm in Spain I shall get to see it loads of times on the box !
I suppose Lorenzo had to do something to keep Ducati sweet |

Pedrosa still a great rider, we’ll see about Zarco. But as I said great to see Cal up there, but we’ll see if anyone can beat Marquez tomorrow
