Rouse RS500 Update
Hi Guys,
Rouse chassis ARE RSCA 007 88 is now in Australia. It raced in the JTCC up until the InterTec in 1990, then purchased by a wealthy motorsport fan for light duties, who we purchased it from. Always #3 or #13, sponsored by Dunlop Tyres and Shimizu (Shimz). Mostly raced by Jeff Krosnoff and Marco Martini. It is in very good, original condition and it still has its aluminum cage. Cheers, Chris. |

Good to see another one in the collection Chris
Can anyone help me work out which car this is? At first I thought it was DJR#1 as it's obviously in it's early 1987 RS Cosworth spec (pre RS500 upgrade) but that is RHD. I know that DJR#2 was LHD and ran at the same time but I thought it always ran as #18 with Gregg Hansford at the wheel? |

Looks RHD to me, it's just the shading and the side-on angle that's making it look ambiguous.
I reckon that's DJ steering DJR1 through the first corner at Adelaide International Raceway. |

Both cars were in the Kaliber colour scheme (an alcohol free lager produced by Guinness). ARE KAL 00188 was run by Guy Edwards and ARE KAL 00288 by Andy Rouse himself. Both cars were sold to Brock for the 1989 season where they were run by Advantage Racing. I own ARE KAL 00288 and have official documentation from Advantage Racing relating to the car stating that it was driven by Brock in every touring car and endurance event in Australia in '89 and New Zealand in the Nissan Mobil series and that in 1989 it was the car driven by Brock and Rouse at Bathurst. The car was driven by Brock in the 1990 ATCC prior to a new car being built for the endurance events. The car's last two races for the Brock Racing Team were the Nissan Moble Series in New Zealand with David Parsons and Kevin Waldock. As ARE KAL 00288 was Brocky's car, perhaps ARE KAL 00188 was Miedecke's car...? I believe that ARE KAL 00188 was the car that Barry Sheene famously put in the wall at a press day. This begs the question, was ARE KAL 00188 doubly unlucky and the car that Miedecke rolled at Mallala...? Last edited by Wireless; 7 Nov 2016 at 09:02. |

Another update on the Rouse cars that went to BRT for 1989.
Andy's 1988 Kaliber car (ARE KAL 00288) became Peter Brock's 05 Mobil car for the 1989 ATCC. The second Rouse car to be sold to BRT was not in fact the Guy Edwards Kaliber car as I previously thought, but was the 1988 ex-Pete Hall ICS car driven briefly by Pete himself then subsequently by Robb Gravett during 1988. This car became Brad Jones' Mobil car for the 1989 ATCC. Chassis number is either ARE 00188 or ARE 00588 (I will confirm when I can). The ex-ICS car was indeed the car stuck into the wall by Sheene in 1989 and then rolled by Miedecke at Mallala in 1990. The car was subsequently stripped and the shell crushed to avoid paying deferred import duty. |

The footage shows the floor etc creased so makes sense. Shells were cheap and available at that time. Obviously the Miedecke car was also lost in same incident. Cheers Ben |

Dear all.
I work for a TV production company in Melbourne, Australia and this week our distributors are attending the MIPtv conference in Cannes to drum up interest in a documentary pitch featuring the racing Sierras of the late 80s. In fact our story ends at the end of the all conquering 1988 season. Now this is a long shot, as I doubt very much whether you would be allowed through the gates with a video or cine camera back then, but we're putting the call out for any footage of any teams worldwide that raced the Sierras up until the end of 1988. We're looking for anything whatsoever. Teams at work on a Sierra in the paddock or pit lane would be fantastic and if anyone was lucky enough to visit a team workshop during the week and has some footage, we'd welcome that too. If you can help or know someone that can, please do not hesitate to contact me at david@carpentersmess.com |
