They will get the wets working this year better than any other tyre ever has.

Their dries, howerver, will be more like wets

That's a turn from Ron Walker. When the race left Adelaide, he insisted it be moved to March to better suit Melbourne.

A permanent shift of race date is on the cards anyway, because it is almost certain that the Australian Open tennis will be moving to a March date, and it is widely said that the two can't share a weekend, due to hotels, etc.

I would be delighted to see Adelaïde back. It produced a few fantastic championship showdowns. I'll never forget the 1994 race.

Adelaide won't be back, not just for one year. A date can surely be found for Melbourne, even if it means switching it to the end of the season.

Adelaide would not have enough run-off to meet current F1 safety standards, surely?

The Turn 1 Senna Chicane has VERY little runoff on both sides, and cannot be extended because it is surrounded by 'protected' trees.

The end of Brabham Straight is also a bit iffy.

Anyway, it's all a bit of fun conversation, because THERE IS NO WAY A GRAND PRIX WILL RACE IN ADELAIDE! Maybe Adelaide should try for an IndyCar round once they go to road courses? And bring the PROCAR gang as the complete support categories!

Adelaide is a classic track. So many memories.

As for the IndyCars racing there, well I must say I'd love that to happen, but I don't think it will.

Now that ChampCars' future appears to be safe, Surfer's will be remaining as a ChampCar race. It can still be used for F1 given the right development (Montreal is used for both), but I don't think it's the right place for Formula 1.

I heard that South Australia was after th ALMs series again so that would rule out a return of F1 to Adelaide.I still say the last round is the go .

In this weeks Autosport there is a fun piece on the ultimate calendar. Old Spa, Rouen, Proper 'Rings, etc, etc. (the sort of thing that makes you weep). Adelaide is the final GP in that list.

Adelaide has had its share of rain as well. In 91 or 92 (i think Senna aquaplaned into the back of Brundle on Brabham staright.

Same race a seperate incident (before the Brundle accident)- I can still hear Murray Walker commentating "That's Senna, Spin, Spin, Spin"

Melbourne is a nice track but it shouldn't be on the calendar. The Australian GP should return to Adelaide in its end of season slot. So much drama and memories, Schumacher/Hill crash, Mansell's tyre explosion, the rainstorms, Senna's last victory. Take me back.

Not possible for GP to return to Adelaide. The track would not meet current saftey standards and being a street circuit in the middle of adelaide would cost to much to upgrade. Also the ease at which you can get to the Albert park track beats Adelaide hands down. Living in Melboune might seem as if I am biased but, as I have attended all but 2 AGPS in both states,or public transport is better then Adelaides.

While we are at it, let's return Britan to Brands Hatch, the US to Detroit, Germany to the full Nurburgring, Netherlands to Zandvoort, , France to Dijon and Canada to Mosport.

Adelaide 91 is shortest ever F1 race, they struggled to get out of 2nd on the straight, senna hit Brundle in 89, Prost chickened out (Still thinking of Hockenhiem 82 with Pironi, I think) 90 was Sunny with Piquet (Benetton) just beating Mansell (Ferrari) and 92 Senna wiped out Mansell at the hairpin onto start finish.

The Grand Prix should definately should stay in Melbourne as they do a fantastic job of staging the race & the ease in which you can get a tram to & from the circuit makes it such a stress free few days.

Melbourne is more a complete circuit in regards to accessing the track (Adelaide wasn't far behind as the circuit is on the edge of the CBD) and the infrastructure at the circuit available to teams and corprate areas, but...(slaps on bias hat ) the actual circuit itself is not as good as Adelaide.

Adelaide always brought a good race. I went to the last GP in 95, and I was blown away by the spectacle. Having been to one Melbourne race, it didn't seem to have the same affect on me.

Why would it when you were still comparing it to Adelaide?

This seems to be a common trait when a P is moved within a country - no matter how good the following GP's are, everyone who has been to earlier races will continue to relate it to those earlier races - and nothing, but nothing, will make it better in those fans minds.

I think some people should just accept that the GP is staying in Melbourne & won't be moving back to Adelaide. Everyone talks about the racing at Adelaide but seem to forget that there have been some good races at Albert Park as well.
