Payne really seems to have matured, and they were very competitive at Sandown. I do wonder though, if Bathurst could be decided in the co-driver stint like Sandown was. As good as Erebus' drivers are, they are no match for Whincup, or Tander for that matter. Endurance racing is a fickle mistress, let's hope for a fair contest and reliability for the cars, which in general Sandown was good for. |

It is a few years old now, but I recently re-watched the Porsche doco 'Endurance', in which Estre (and Matty Campell) features heavily. He may have matured, or the film may have over-blown his balls-to-the-wall take-no-prisoners approach, but he seems like someone you would want in your car if you were planning on occupying the top step at Bathurst.

Looking forward to watching the Sports Sedans at Mount Panorama on the 1000 card for the first time since 1992.
30+ entries, here is hoping: https://www.v8sleuth.com.au/sports-s...-1000-in-2023/ Can not remember seeing the Ricciardello Alfa at Bathurst before - trust Basil & the crew put on a great show, & keep the newer cars honest. 'Sports Sedans have three sessions on Thursday, practice at 07:25 AEDT and 10:55 before qualifying at 16:15. They race twice on Friday at 07:55 and 11:15 before Race 3 on Saturday at 11:15. There is live coverage on Fox Sports and Kayo over the three days and on free-to-air Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus on Friday and Saturday.' https://www.speedcafe.com/2023/10/03...s-sedan-title/ I trust we get to see all the action. If it wasn't for his dowry I think his career would have already been over. No doubting his ability on the day but he seems to have multiple personalities and post-COVID we've just never seen the fast one. |

.0007 in P1 between Will Brown and Payne!
I note this: Ford goes well in practice - "one lap pace doesn't matter" Chevs go well in practice "zOMGGGGGGGG parity drama" Yep, this is how you sound. |

Don't you know anything??? The parity issues affect tyre wear over a race distance, the lack of rear downforce on the mustang can make it go faster on the straights but slower overall at the end of the stint.

On the in cars.. in the Fords.. a couple of them.. the shift from 5th to 6th sounds like the engine falls out of the power range, like it’s a mismatched engine (not mapping) to where the hearing is.
It was a Tickford onboard and a WAU onboard I noticed it. I don’t recall hearing the same labouring in the Chev.. |

Dave Russell will be in trouble, didn't read the memo about keeping the margin as small as possible.

Some of the Ford drivers seem to spend more time working on their hairstyles than focussing on car speed!!!!
