Have to agree with you on this one, from what I saw of Roger during the Indy Cars in Aust, he doesn't go about business half baked, bit like Richard Petty Motorsport but only if the category allows coupes back in, Mustang , Camaro, BMW, Jags, Nissan Godzilla etc etc |

If it all comes to pass it will be interesting to see if anyone follows them. That will only happen if they have a good experience from the category management but it could signal the end of the present status quo as we know it or their ability to be a force on the grid. This could happen if other US brands chose Motorsport as a vehicle to enter the Ozzie market. Remember, that is what Penske are doing it for and no other reason. they would not be here if that reason did not exist. It is marketing first and Motorsport second, it being the tool. |

Thinking out loud here: FPR have let an awful lot of people leave recently, Messrs Davison (x2?), Little, Small, Nilsson, maybe Penske are bringing in replacement staff...?

Team Penske has publicly declared its interest in hiring Marcos Ambrose if hopes to enter the V8 Supercars Championship come to fruition.

Its not normally the Penske way to shout about what they are going to do before they do it... Maybe its already done?

I have my doubts about Penske, their engines should be good but aren't they oval specialists?

They've won in NASCAR, Indycar, CART, Formula One, The 24hr of Daytona, 12hr of Sebring(in a P2 overall!) five time Trans-Am champions, Can-Am championships(they ran the Porsche 917-30), were in charge of the Porsche RS Spyder program in the US, etc, etc, etc. |

If Penske comes, they will come to win and they will win.
Domination is entirely another thing though. Whomever they choose to drive for them will both a) drive and b) represent leverage for the sponsors. Penske are the masters at maximising all possible opportunities from their activities. Lets not forget that there are a few unused franchises out there now..... |

True enough on both fronts, but I don't think anyone anywhere in racing can surpass the breadth and depth of success Roger's organization has. Sure, some of it's because they've been doing it a darn long time, but that's probably one of their greatest strengths too.

Hmm, I wonder if Whincup is looking at driving for Penske? That may be why he hasn't committed long term to T8. It could open up opportunities for him in other categories overseas as well.

Not sure they were that wonderful in rallying... internationally anyway... anyone remember the touring car front splitter their rally team designed.. which only worked at certain ride heights.. and not when its smashed away by trees and mud and logs and rocks... or indeed under braking when the nose dives under force of braking pressure...

Can hardly call it a flop, it was fast but the funding was pulled, there was some kind of spat with BMW, I really don't know what went on but the car wasn't the problem. |
