The main race has been red flagged due to a horrible crash at Lisboa. You could briefly see it happen in the background of one of the camera shots they showed live, and it looks as if one of the cars (yet unidentified) has flown over the catch fencing without losing any speed from heading down the straight. Now we must wait and hope for the good news.

The race is just restarting.

Sophia (Driver) is ok.

Reports are that 1 Marshal and 1 Cameraman injured
Also Reports if another Marshall dying on the scene due to results of poles falling on him then the car

The official statement said 5 are injured, including 2 drivers, 2 news cameraman and 1 marshal, all are conscious and being transferred to local hospital for treatment

I have seen a article mentioning injuries to others involved, but not sure if it's officially been confirmed.

That really was a dreadful looking crash, they do tend to be big ones when it goes wrong around there don't they.

I've seen footage on FB of the accident from the grandstand on the outside and the car approaches and flies through the air at astonishing speed......

The car is spinning before the corner, it does appear to have lifted off the back of inside kerb, but then connects with another car which seems to lift the car higher and start the corkscrew effect

It was definitely hitting the other car that fully launched it....

Autosport reports:

One marshal, Chan Cha In, suffered a laceration of the face, abrasion of his upper abdomen wall and a fractured jaw.

Photographer Chan Weng Wang was diagnosed with a liver laceration and is being observed in hospital, and fellow photographer Hiroyuki Minami suffered concussion and will also be observed.

if you look at a particular video, you can see there’s nobody in the area of the car when it lands. i think that was a false rumour.

she went into the back of daruvala, which, if autosport’s reports of “losing” a wheel are correct, would have taken out the brakes. you don’t really see any tyre smoke in the videos, do you?

predictably lots of noise from keyboard warriors demanding macau be axed, but aside from some crap marshalling for not dealing with the caution lights that daruvala reacted to it wouldn’t necessarily have been a different story at many other street circuits?

i maintain my criticism of the commentator on the global feed. disrespectful during the red flag and constantly poor james allen-style conversation.

congratulations to dan ticktum for winning - he proved he could do it thoroughly and on merit this time. knew what he had to do and delivered it. exactly the kind of stuff dr marko likes. and he seems to have learnt from the stupidity that got him banned as well, which he absolutely needs to be credited for.

There was a lot of debris from the car, the fencing and from the photograhers platform itself. Injury could be caused from anything, not just the car falling back onto the ground.

Why is this race allowed, every year there seems to be horrendous accidents and people hurt, why does anyone want to race there and how does it get fia sanctioned?

People want to race there because it’s pretty much the best race in the world, on pretty much the best track in the world.

It's a utter joke of a track, and NO change anyone who's same says it's the best. The cars are outgrowing the track, touring cars are probably tops for the track over GT3 and it may have to step down to F4 cars. Would still be exciting race but I couldn't tell you what the lap time or risk change would be with the switch.

“different” doesn’t equal bad.

i hope sophia recovers quickly and is able to use the fact that a lot more people now know her name to her advantage. she works hard, and does a decent job. also hope the injured marshals and photographers recover quickly and that the accident reaffirms the safety advice already given to people signed on trackside.

There is no mean to cover up anything that is no good to the organisers.
