The R19s were not heavy. Just too narrow to be used as a serious race car.

Just wondering, but how would narrowness effect the performance? Later in 93 Renault changed the car around a lot (put in a sequential gearbox) and it was much faster, even in the dry.

Hey Radisichrox!

I reckon it had to do with the tracking of the car. When you have a narrow car, it can be less stable than one with a wider track, i.e. distance between left and right front wheels.

Hello Darin

I guess... Any other cars that were like that? I can think of the BMW M3s from 1991.

I think the Carina/Corona had a similar problem to begin with.

jonboyG has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Every time Mansell got ina touring car he was pretty dire.

At Donington in the rain Mansell looked quite impressive, but that was just the one race and the rest of the time he looked a little out of touch.

I think the worst car/driver combination was Hamish Irvine/BMW 318iS (1994) & Peugeot 405 (1995)

I agree that in 1994 Hamish was pretty pathetic, especially because he was in a 2 year old car. However, in 1995, he had a couple of good races as a privateer.

If there's a rule against resurrecting threads, my apologies, Grahame Davis' Rover from 1991 or the works Mitsubishi's Mark Hales drove.

No rule, but can you resurrect a 'best' driver one next? It feels like you're on some kind of mission at the moment!

How about the works Infiniti/Palmer effort? Car was undeveloped, team was a bit strange with how it went about things and the drivers weren't exactly experienced with modern tin tops
