Yes but woudnt Audi be prepared to help Charouz do what is needed to make the car reliable? Surely if they want to run the cars under the Charouz banner they would.

And they did quite a good job for a privateer team, qualifying 12th overall with a 3:31.135. If the team does secure the Audi engines though I would be suprised if they didnt get a little bit in the way of support from Audi, even if it was only a few engineers at the races etc.
No, it is not a team in its own right. The 2nd Lola at LM last year was run by Cytosport personnel with some support from Jota, and Jota ran the car for them in 2007. Charouz is only a banner.

Cytosport had personnel?

Err...NO.

That´s technically & economically non-viable.

Who on earth is going to give em support to adapt such complex engine inside the Lola?

They would spend less money and less time telling Lola to build a brand new car than trying to fix their current coupe to manage to integrate the R10 engine.

Another rumour fruit of too much winter time...

I wonder if this Kolles/Audi deal might interfere with an engine supply for Charouz ?

I think maybe it was just a bad rumour to begin with.

I've had a gut feeling for some time that we probably won't see Charouz return in any form in 2009. Hope I'm wrong!

Yet you keep believing in fairy tales...

CHAROUZ will never see a 5.5 litre TDI engine on the back of a LOLA...

A petrol 3.6 litre FSI maybe...but one has to wonder:
Is it really that competitive?

Or even a Chevy 6.0 litre...

Those two are more feasible operations than the R10 engine...Audi has NO SUPPORT for that kind of integration process, and Lola can´t alone, not to talk about the MONEY needed to design a completely new back of the car.

Dreamers...

Hmm...Has a pair of 908s for Charouz already been ruled out?

There will be 5 Audi-LMP at LM, so it would be smart for Peugeot to get their pawns in position as well....

there where times when there was 10 cars of one manufacture only (Porsche), and the race was awesome.... remember 83? Out of the 10 top finishers, 9 where Porsche 956. The two first where the works team, and the other where privateers. In 84, 8 out of 10... all 956 privateers. In 85, again 8 out of 10 where Porsches, 2 of them the new 962C, one of those in the hand of a privateer (would that be possible nowadays? a complete new manufacture car in the hands of a privateer an in tha hand of a works team at the same time? Don't think so.....)

Don´t get me wrong... i prefer diversity, but if the privateer teams are filled with strong material like in the day of the 956/962, and are "allowed" the fight with the works team.... let they come!

Also Jag brought five cars in 1988 to fight the Porsches.

If Audi are allowed to bring five cars, Peugeot should be as well.

In that case, I'd take the entries away from the lower classes. But to turn down any entry capable of going for an overall podium would be §$%& stupid.

A bit surprised to see Audi allow them to run the R10 against the R15 at LM.

I suspect we shall see a reduced GT1 grid over last year, allowing for the expansion of the LMP1 grid.

Well now. That's simple enough. 'Doesn't matter how many of 'em there are...all it takes is one that's capable of beating 'em...pick up the pace Peugeot!!!

As far as I know...you won´t ever see a Pug in hands of a privateer...ask Pescarolo about the issue...if someone has had any chance of picking one, was him.

The Pugs are just too expensive and complex that a team would need more money to pay Pug´s engineers exclusive services than the proper value of the car.

I´m still shocked by Audi´s decision to put the R10´s in hands of a privateer...I guess that Joest must have some kind of share work in that operation...without Audi support R10´s are just a piece of iron.

Audi said the same thing about the R10 too.

Maybe Audi are now thinking they need to maximise their investment, with the days of running cars exclusively by the factory behind them. In other areas of the sport supplying year old chassis to customers is the norm.
