So does the Alfa need a BoP tune up or is GRM just a real, experienced race team up against weekend warriors?
Also Chaz did a pretty nice job but taken out. See what the stewards do. Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk |

The irony of your post is that by referring to GRM as a "real race team" that is "up against weekend warriors" (A term to diminish private competitors in tcr, therefore diminish tcr) is that deep down, Garry Rogers is a weekend warrior.
He's own a race team, but deep down he's a legit weekend warrior. His team is a mix and results show. It's why his team has always been a grid filler with occasional highlights. He joined the ATCC prior to IMG/Cochrane getting involved and then got swept up by the formalisation of supercars. Atm, GRM to TCR is like Penske to Supercars. Dick Johnson deep down is also a weekend warrior as well. |

I find it odd that the likes of GRM and the Kellys couldn't get their heads around TCR, yet the likes of MPC, HMO, Wall Racing, and ASM could, and be consistently competitive. Silly errors like induced reliability problems, drivers not knowing basic operating procedures... You'd get laughed out of Supercars for that. |

MPC's Audi looks sharper this year than it has, but it has a younger, quicker pilot aboard. Some of these young guns look pretty good. GRM also made to look ordinary with friendly fire too - but the pilot responsible hasn't raced for a while. |

The Kelly's didn't get anywhere with it because because they're ****.
edit: When I say "they're ****". I mean, they're "weekend warriors" with the ego of an F1 champion. Last edited by 2 litre Touring Car Star; 26 Jan 2021 at 05:55. |

I would say yes, but with the qualification that MPC might be more in tune with TCR, because in reality it is just a really slow GT car. You can't control a lot and unless you what to homologate stuff like GRM are, you have to run what you brung.
The depth of engineering available to the Kelly's or GRM is greater than HMO or the Walls, but is it a benefit with a TCR car? We will never know what they Kellys could have done because they pulled the short straw. I can't believe ARG were able to sell the 2 Subarus! Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk |

TCR, like GT3/4 is plug-and-play. Most of them even come with a setup guide from the constructor. The teams have access to online workshop manuals, parts lists, you name it.
Methinks the likes of KR and GRM were too caught up in trying to out-smart others and reinvent wheels, as they would have in Supercars land, instead of focussing on getting the fundentals down pat. |
