The Eye should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
WJM, What a great Rallycross car!! You can see it is a Factory car, the scoop and the rear spoiler is clearly a designer work! NOT What car is this? Cars that looked like this where called “tvålkoppar” (soap coppers) in Sweden in the seventies. NSU and Fiat where thru “tvålkoppar cars”

Yep - Simca 1000. Rally versions were quite good in their day and still have big following in Europe.

They are still very popular on the Berg Cup hillclimbs

I think NSU, Renault and a few otehr people made these little rear engined cars

They were very good in rallycross in the 70's before 4wd coz they had awesome traction!!

Thin in the past teh Swedes were amazingply quick in these things!

Not Swedes really, but Norwegian and Danish drivers such as Tore H. Bratlie, Geir Tørmoen, Egil Alver, Arvid Rosenberg, Aage Mathiassen etc.

http://users.skynet.be/nsu-tt/norway.html

And the late Belgian Noël Dewulf was also a fast RX guy in his NSU TT.

I wonder if there was anything on four wheels that Tore H. Bratlie, the Norwegian "King of the mountains", did not drive.

Pic by link to Pekka Keski-Korsu’s website in Finland.

This is quite a bizarre (or rather exotic?) Rallycross car, a Proton Satria T16 4x4. As Proton of Malaysia produced the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo in licence under the name Proton Wira some years ago I guess there is a lot of Mitsubishi stuff also in this one…

Not alone in it... I can't tell about the front (altough it rather looks selfmade), but the rear does look like a mid-nineties mitsubishi colt (the model bart huybs drove with in the Belgian Division 3)

That's because the two are the same car.

In Holland Bart Huybs was more then once on the entry list with a Proton: this car had homologation, and the Colt not.

In those days (i was 11 at that time) i didn't understand why huybs entered a colt in belgium, and a proton in holland...

Found a great collection of 70's & 80's Lydden action of Flickr- including one or two rarities...

Anyone able to identify the intrepid Ford Mustang pilot in 1978?

Porsche 914- not Rob Gibson by any chance?

Alfasuds aren't too common in rallycross either....

....neither are Dolly Sprints?
