So is the deal in or out? Or are they still dancing the dance of the desperate and dateless, looking to consummate the marriage, but at the moment there is no love, only lust? |

pitpass.com seems to think it's Jos...could also explain why the Benson & Hedges logos are less prominent...if they wanted a Brit and didn't get one I can see them reducing their investment considerably

Lazarus.ie seems a small (three employees!) web-site developing business. Hardly the type to spend millions to sponsor an F1 team. Plus the logos don't match. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

this is on the jordan website this morning:
B&H extends Jordan sponsorship Jordan Grand Prix announces today that Benson & Hedges will be a major sponsor of the Jordan Ford team in the 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship. Manufactured in the UK by Gallaher Group PLC, the Benson and Hedges brand has been associated with Jordan Grand Prix since 1996 when it became the team’s title sponsor. Eddie Jordan, Chief Executive of Jordan Grand Prix said, “The whole team is delighted that Benson and Hedges will be with us for a 9th consecutive season. Benson and Hedges have been an integral part of our success in the past and they have shown remarkable loyalty to us. I’m proud that we will be racing once again in their distinctive yellow colours and we’re looking forward to the season with excitement.” |

This is all very interesting.
My comments / questions are. Both itv-f1.com say Heidfield tested the jordan. Thats not heidfields helmet. Looking on the Jordan website at the testing pictures, there are pictures of Timo Glock, the guy who smashed up the care after six corners an "AN-OTHER" driver. The Helmet of AN-OTHER driver looks almost the same as the one in the testing photo ? The Trust stickers confuse me, lots of conflicting info. a.) the trust stickers are not as prominent as on the Minardi, perhaps Trust would be a title sponsor IF Jos drove, but other than that are just a "sponsor" b.) Jos could have agreed a deal (but then why would they take the stickers off) What happened to the Irish Consotium investing / buying Jordan ? is this lazarus ? If so, it looks a small investment ? We need a good track condition fo evaluate the Jordan. If this isn't a significanlty better season I think this may end them. |

helmet wise, could just be heidfeld trying out a new desgin?
with regards to the car, looks interesting, seems to be some clever detailing ogin on infront of the side pods, and the there must be a reason for the curvature of the rear wing end-plates. And the winglets on the pod do look oversized, and don't seem to cover much of the rear wheel, unlike most other cars. Loos like the sidepods are also smaller (lower height), whilst the actual chassis seems very high, especially in the area above the front splitter (just behind the frnt wheels), cant be doing much for a low CoG. Sponser wise, my bet is that Trust signed a small deal with Jordan anyway, despite the Jos situation, probably as some form of technical partner (they make computers right?), as i don't see any Brother stickers on there. Lazarus, I ain't a clue, probablt something to do with the rumoured consortium trying ot buy into Jordan. And B&H has been getting less and less in recent years, maybe getting ready for the EU tobabcco ban? Just ome thoughts Ed (BTW more pics are up at ITV.com, looking under gallary and jordan-ford) |

Beats me. I doubt heidfeld was the one testing going by the helmet. Wasnt there a young dutchman in the renault driver development program ? just a thought. Less B+H sponsership and trust make you think that its Jos who has been signed. Why would Eddie Jordan want to keep depending on B+H. Think about it from a business sense. You cant just go out in 2006 and try and find all these sponsers to run an f1 team. Maybe Eddie is looking at the bigger picture and trying to nab a non-tobacco sponser or two a year early. It might mean less budget at present (as B+H could provide me), but it would do more to ensure the survival of the team long term in my view.
Williams went down this path a few years ago, securing non-tobacco sponsers, and Jaguar the same. F1 teams wont have to worry about the skyrocketing costs for much longer because they wont have the need to spend so much because they wont have it. Where is Ferrari going to fill the 100million a season Marlboro void in a few years ? I think eddie is looking to the future in trying to lower B+H involvement and hiring jos opens his team to dutch commercialism, and heidfeld opens up Germany. -jason ps. Just a thought but have you ever considered the very real possiblity of having Arabic or Chinese symbols on a car in the near future?? |

considering all the reports say heidfeld was behind the wheel, im gonna go with my new helmet theory... and it deffiently looks like him from the pics in the garage with the helmet up. No body else makes sense (wirdheim has signed with jag, baumgartner with minardi), bar possibly Glock, and i doubt very much he'd be put in the NEW car
And to be honest, what would be the point of putting a rookie in the new car for the first runs? A least heidfeld has a large amount of experience to draw on. Good pint regarding the opening up oportunities in different countries though, makes a ar bitof commercial ssnse. I'm still not sure about Jos signing though, especially if thoose rumours about the stickers being removed are true, better wait for the launch tomorrow... Ed |

all pics on http://f1.racing-live.com/en/index.html
these are proper photos, no photoshop job as suggested earlier. perhaps Jos has signed as their 3rd /Test driver? or that Eddies just got the Trust sponsorship direct and cut out the middle man (verstappen) didnt B&H want a british driver? |

I think the Lazarus logo is an EJ joke/swipe at some of his critics......

Yup,
the picture is heidfield. Its the same Helmet he as alawys had but the yellow stripe now blends into Orange, and black towards the back (the German flag) the same way the TGF's helmet did. Not really a big change, I think it just looks different without the Petronas logos and the fact that the white band now has a sponsor on. |

The trust logo really is on the car, but we can only hope it'll be a British driver racing it and any involvement by Jos is restricted to being the 3rd man.
I still think Allan McNish would be the best bet for EJ. |

Michel Peridon has said that if Jos does'nt RACE a Jordan he won't sponsor Jordan, but Jos is in Silverstone today to negotiate further, he also asked Huub Rothengatter back(who was sidelined by Micehl Peridon earlier) to negotiate the driver contract.

Steve, do you want Jos to race for Jordan?
Last week when the deal seemed to be off, you made all sorts of allegations about the team being close to collapse. So surely you don't want Verstappen involved in that? Or was that just bitterness making you talk nonsense? |

No, those where rumours going round about the team(reasons why Jos would'nt have signed)
BTW: new rumours on several sites: Jos has signed this afternoon bringing 9 million euro's in sponsorship(Trust,Muermans and Wilux), the Jordan team replied to that rumour:"no comment" |

Ah, now you say they were rumours - last week you passing them off as some sort of inside information.
Glad we've cleared that up and anything you claim as fact can be taken with a pinch of salt in future. |
