Just had a quick chat with Iain. He's got an FJ and a prewar to look after. An unusually quiet weekend for him and Team Delta.

Had a canny first day of the Festival, hopefully rest of weekend just as good tho if weather forecast correct, Saturday going to be a wash out.

We had brilliant Marshall’s BBQ last night . Think there must of been over 100 tuned up . We all enjoy the banter and stories from the day they have experienced. Yes the rain is lashing down now . Juniors on first thing . I suspect there will be a fair amount of safety cars today . Good to see and catch up with Pete . I’m amazed at size of all the grids when you think they have been down on numbers this year . Guess drivers enjoy this meeting . Watcher Michael Birch thundering through Copse yesterday . Might impressive .

Watched the Touring car race earlier. Fantastic grid what a shame the commentary had no idea about that period of racing. “The Brown and Gammons Sierra , “Alan Gow worked for Dick Johnson - no Peter Brock “ “Johnny Bowe ( who?) it’s always been John Bowe. Incorrectly identified cars what an embarrassment.

Been here since this am. Very wet so historic single seaters abandoned. Will be here for HGPCA then bailing until tomorrow. Hope to catch up with Iain tomorrow.

Really feel for those spectating today, can't remember a race day be so interrupted by red flags and the conditions.

Some fabulous grids quality wise and quantity, GT Trophy really seems to be hitting its mark now.

I bailed after the HGPCA race. I thought both that and the F1s, were just the tonic after such dreadful conditions a good win for the Front Engine Maserati 250F of John Speirs. Sadly my big lens has got waterlogged, despite investing in a very expensive lens cover, so it's currently sitting in the airing cupboard to see if we can rescue it. I don't recall RAM Marches winning in period but one did today so fair play.

Istr reading an article some time ago where the, then current RAM March, preparer in historics discovered that the chassis wasn’t as stiff as it could be, and added some metalwork somewhere which improved the handling markedly.

Echo that sentiment, such a shame with the foul weather. Fabulous mix of cars out in the Masters Endurance right now in slightly improving conditions.

The amount of times Alastair Douglas had to correct him was embarrasing.

HSCC did well to keep the day running as well as they did and largely the drivers coped well with the wet and tricky changeable conditions.

Derwent is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
In the pre war race it seems the Frazer Nash has been developed to be much quicker than it was in period. There is no way it should be beating the mid to late 30s cars.

PBE is a very quick driver, you'll note he was quick in the BMW he took over fron Vijay Mallya. I expect I've got some sideways pictures on the disc.

Agreed re PBE but it was quick in a straight line as well. Some of the 30s cars should be a lot quicker.
As it's cold and wet here I've been watching on line. IN most raced the cars get very spread out with sometimes only the top ten finishing on the same lap. I suspect this is more down to the drivers than the cars. A bunch of rich old guys driving fast cars quite slowly.

Club racing which is what historics essentially is in a multiclass structure will always produce grids that spread out. That being at a track thats the size Silverstone is.

Pre 63 GT being dominated by Cobras seems to be something new. Poor Jags get shoved by the Daytonas in Pre 66 and now Pre 63 by the regular ones.

Great to see some clean races and good racing

Very long story short, he hasn't been convicted of anything. The Indian Government has made attempts to extradite him to India but, so far and for a variety of reasons, they haven't been successful.
