The double VW is only two joined engines... The Double VW was fastest that one Lola T-70 It looks at the windscreen of the car, it is lying, the space is the air inlet there, to cool the engine. They were in a track, circuit of Interlagos and Jacarepaguá, and others road-circuits. |

Smokie Yunnicks effort was not all that bad looking a machine, just different. I have pictures of it from the Goodwood FOS from a few years back, even got a large poster of it signed by Smokie, sadly he has died since then though. |

Bet it didn't have a Porsche engine stuffed in it! (in the Central Florida area there is a VW camper fitted with a 911 engine. Fortunatly they have also fitted discs and improved the suspension. Also has a full roll cage in the cab).
First edu comes up with that ugly beast thing, and then he comes up with nice looking cars. I remember years ago reading about the Le Mans winning Matra Simca (1972), and the desciption said 'ugly as only an aerodynamically perfect car could be.' I never thought the Matras ugly. 'Course, if you win Le Mans three times in a row I guess that makes it beautiful! |

Escort Can Am
Put the driver in 1 sidepod and the engine in the other, make the center section a big aerofoil and heres what you get. Looks worse from above.

Nardi had tried the 'twin-boom' concept with the driver and engine in separate pods at Le Mans back in the 50's- didn't work then either.....

The Ferrari 312 of that era was much more attractive, but the Matra rulled Le Mans. It had a girl next door attractiveness!

Panoz GT-1. Sitting next to the McLarens,CLK-GTR's and Porsche GT-1 97's it looked goofy.

The Ferrari Enzo/Maserati Whatever looks hideous, like the road going version, too.

i'd've said that was funny, not ugly.
kinda like Jade Goody, only smaller, quieter and more aerodynamic. |

beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder... does that mean I have ugly eyes??
I like that Mazda. Whereas the current Mosler somehow just doesn't hang together, to me... but it's not hideous tho' and the early Domes are rather funky.... mind you, anything with Roland Synthesizer sponsorship is always gonna get my vote. Off-topic, je connais, but has any other musical instrument manufacturer sponsored a car? Last edited by Osella; 10 Oct 2007 at 21:06. |

Seek out the Pegasus-BMW. It's what you get if you cut the top off a rather modsports IMSA Lotus Esprit, stuff some unlikely wings onto it and weld half an oilrig on top as a rollcage.
The kind of thing that could only appear in the formative years of a doomed category - IMSA WSC in this case. |
