That would be ideal!
I do remember reading around the time that maybe a V12 could be the way to go nowadays (best comprimise). Can't remember any more details though. I think this was one of the reasons why they froze it V10, so that no manufacturer would go down the expensive route of finding out if a V12 would be better. |

Yes, that rings a bell. Toyota was thinking V12 and all the others thought that it might be expensive to have to follow a new route?

Toyota wasn't thinking, they made a V12, and if I remember right, they payed for not participating one year.

Bring back slicks, ban gizmos (including semi-auto boxes), have Michelin supplying all teams, ban aero clutter like the dreaded winglets, ban high noses (aesthetics!), take all 18 tracks in the calendar and replace about 15 of them with real tracks, old school qualifying (x2), wide track cars, more flexibility in engine regs, remove one-engine-per-weekend ruling, and on, and on, and on..........

Aerodynamics
The aerodynamics on the car will be reduced. The teams will be given more possibilities to create down force at the underside of the car. With some restrictions the FIA could reintroduce the skirts. This will make it possible to create down force, without making it impossible for the drivers to overtake. Tyres I want the slicks back and broader tyres, especially the rear tyres. The drivers should have eight sets to use. I would like to see three different tyre suppliers. Engines Abolish the one engine rule. Go back to the 3,5 liter engines and give the suppliers the choice how much cylinders and what kind of engine they want to use. Turbo charged engines will still be banned. Driver aids Ban on traction control and electronic throttle. Qualifying One 60 minutes qualifying session. No limits of laps. The parc fermé rule will be abolished. Point system Back to the old 10-6-4-3-2-1-sytsem. There should also one point given for the pole and fastest lap. |

I'd like to see driver electonic aids really banned but it won't happen..as its been pointed out to me a few times recently.
But definitely a launch control ban. Pit stops banned or at least only one allowed. Barge boards and turning vanes go bye-byes. Smaller wings front and rear. A ban on mid-ship winglets. Qualifying same but only partial re-fuelling allowed. Points system as this year, but I do like the idea of fastest lap and pole points. Of course if we still have a F1 worth watching...lol. Any news on Ford GP? or is it all hype? Breakfast GP this Sunday....bacon and eggs anyone? Cheers Peter Last edited by Lotusonpole; 21 Sep 2004 at 15:54. |

i don't know how many would agree with me on this, but regarding aerodynamics, i would like to see at least a partial return to ground effect cars. it wouldn't do much for slowing cars in corners but you could probably follow the car in front much closer, also modern super smooth race tracks would suit ground effect cars better than the actual tracks they raced on in their heyday.
