Joest Racing just tweeted that the third Audi for Le Mans (Gené, Jarvis, di Grassi) will also race at Spa. Was that announced at the WEC press conference?

I didn't hear it - but they didn't mention that Rebellion will run 2 cars at Silverstone either. Graham said that.

According to DSC's WEC entry list it will be a tough year for Joerg Bergmeister doing both GTE-Pro with Porsche and LMP1 with Toyota

Biggest surprise to me was seeing 8Star in GT and not P2. As far as I know they still have their HPD chassis, so I guess it sits idle this year?
Off topic: Level 5 and 8 star have enough LMP2 chassis sitting stateside to start their own series! |

Anyone have a link for the nice colourful entry list the FIA published that I can save? I see it on radiolemans and on Facebook but cannot save it.
I am very happy to see the series fully subscribed after some of the naysayers predicted doom and gloom. We have a proper fight in all 4 classes. |

After all the doom-mongering I've seen across the interweb leading up to the announcement this has been an anti-climax in terms of anticipating an entry list which displayed the sport was in a sorry state.
There are, of course, some weaknesses in that list - LMP1 and GTE-Pro lacking depth, perhaps, and maybe we could have seen more in LMP2. But really, for me, that entry list is an improvement on last year and that's all anyone could ask for. |

I'd rather see a team focus on 2014 and thus the next couple of years with a program then run 2013 and find they lack the funds to build a 2014 lmp1.

There's 15 lmp2's. I could care less about that. I want to see them in LMP1. 2014 with them being there is great though.

Maybe you missed the context of the post, so please stop assuming. I care less about another LMP2 entry, not the class as a whole. Reason because there's already plenty of those. I want to see an addition to LMP1 where there's only 2 private teams!

Is this the strongest field we've ever seen? No.
Did I get genuinely excited with the real surprise of two Toyota? Oh yes, and then some. Like Ginger says, this is a fantastic answer to a lot of the doom mongers - it gives us the prospect of a cracking 2013 - and really perks me up about the Europe heavy first half of the season. LMP1 needs work - but to be honest, there wasn't a lot of machinery out there to start with, and nobody was going to launch a big programme for one year only. I'd have liked there to be JRM and Oak there, but Strakka and Rebellion are perfectly capable of putting on a good show in the private space - and let's face it - Audi v Toyota is going to be worth watching. LMP2 - can't ask for more really. Full grid, good spectrum of chassis and teams, and almost impossible to see an clear pre season favourite. With the additional Le Mans LMP2 entries I suspect this bodes pretty well for ELMS too - all of which really whets appetite for what should be a great Silverstone weekend in April. |
