Just to clarify a bit, the track in use now does not effect the operation of the airport, which is fully accessible to road traffic in and out (traffic would be any issue obviously), nor any of the currently used runways or taxi ways.

Such a shame we won't see that livery at La Sarthe.

Then NASCAR buys Panoz out, meaning that the contract is now with… NASCAR, not ISC. (Sebring and Road Atlanta are not currently included on ISC's list of tracks.)

In any case, because Sebring is flat as can be, the bumps are its defining feature. As fieldodreams79 said, you can only run with that for so long… and I understand that there are rumors the place with be repaved. We'll see.
Repaving the concrete (hopefully with concrete) would probably destroy the appeal of the track. Better to patch it and keep the character of the place. The whole reason the WEC P1 cars come to test is because 12 hours at Sebring is h*ll on cars.

Smooth it all out and what you get is a flat probably boring track.

What other track has the type of bumps Sebring has in it? Even at Le Mans theyve repaved a lot of the straights. For the wec guys, testing at Sebring isn't absolutely needed, but I'm not complaining!

Would be great if Millennium came out and said why they aren't running. Given the car is actually there...

John Martin could conceivably have slapped that car on pole so it's a shame.

My bet is that the team used to run the oreca 03 with dunlop tyres for so long, that they just did not have the time (or the experience) to find a good and competitive overall/suspensions set-up for the continental's

That and it's not like they'll be completely gone: there's still their collaboration with AXR's second car. Though, I haven't heard that the new bodywork will be available for Sebring as was originally planned.

Or the moving target called "rules." I read that some adjustments were issued today, or yesterday by IMSA... ?

you mean after, after? After the test, and after rules update. Long past the time the cars were in the shop and instead at the track?

Millennium were planning to do some tire test at Sebring this week, but it got rained out and that's at least part of the reason why they pulled out.

DSC has the story there.

I do imagine there is more to it than a single day of rained out testing on the Continental tires.
