Ooh, only 2 hot hatches. That is really hard not to laugh at! See.

You have to say if it wasn't for Minis and Swifts (which I don't want to see anyway) this is a pretty poor entry.

Surely the time has come to amalgamate now?

I have to say, when i seen the entry list my first though was "is that It?" Hopefully there are a few missing from that list that will appear on Sunday. I'll be a Croft as normal so we shall see.

On a plus point, it might make BT produce a proper highlights show with all the other classes getting a good showing now as there not enough supercars to fill the whole program by them selfs.

Surprised no Albatec, no Bellerby, no defending supercar champion. No Pat or Liam. No Andy Grant. Flaherty in retro rather than supercar.

Well we new Rooke wouldn't be there and I'm sure Bellerby had said he wouldn't be driving this year as well. Agree with the others though - I assumed at least one of the Dorans would be out as a minimum.

Can't blame him for that - I mean which would you rather drive?

It seems that Warren Scott has proved me wrong and put in a good display so far today at Croft. Hope he goes well in the finals and the rest of the Championship. It needs some decent competition.

Agreed - he was better than expected (maybe all that time spent in gravel traps last season was just practice for this year ).

Nathan Heathcote adapted well to the Citroen C4 Supercar, adapting well from a lower category. Does that remind you of anyone? Hmmmm!

Thinking of Dan Rooke, I do hope he's able to rejoin the sport at the Supercar level again before too long. Must be painful for him not being able to defend his crown!.

Looks like Julian Godfrey will have his hands full this year and can't assume he'll retake his former position as champ without Dan the Man in contention! The Supercar championship looks wide open this year - bring it on.

Delighted to see Tristan Ovenden taming the Renault Clio V6 so well yesterday. He seemed to have the edge over Paige Bellerby and the returning Ash Simpson in their Lotuses (Lotii?) until the final when a tap from Ash sent him facing the wrong way. Still, bodes well for 2017. Sad to see Tony Lynch limping back to the paddock and where was Stuart Emery?!

Glad to see 7 Juniors racing. The sight of seeing two Juniors racing at Croft 4 years ago was a cue to use the loo. So much healthier this year. Great for the sport!

Would have preferred to see Mark Flaherty being released along with the 2WD Retros rather than having a 5+ second penalty each heat. Just meant his 6R4 got damaged as he overtook, which is not what I wanted to see! Ray Morgan looks unsurpassable again, and that was without the upgraded engine!

Couldn't get used to seeing dust at Croft. That was a first for me!! Never seen the bowser used there and standing on the transition from the rough to the tarmac during the supercar final, I was shocked that they were allowed to race when the dust was so thick they were racing blind at full tilt! Yikes!!

2017 should be an epic season! Cheers, Steve

Had a another crack day at Croft, just a pitty sum of the class entries were a bit on the small side, hope it will improve.
Racing wise there were sum great drives, Warren showed that he was not out of his depth and will be a front runner in the supercars. Paige Bellerby took a very hard earned win in the SuperNationals, tho Tristen Ovenden and Ash Simpson look very close.

Anyway here's a few pics from the day:

Forgive the double post, here's my vid from Sunday if anyone interested. Please excuse the wobbly handy work as it was a tad breezy at times. Finals start at the 18 min mark:

Watched that last night, great stuff! I read a few moans about the dust on Facebook, but I didn't realize just how bad it was until I watched your video. Looked like it was really obscuring the track, especially in the finals.

Cheers tbtstt, i was a bit worried how it would turn out with it being so windy. In the morning, the strong winds help blow the dust away as soon as it was kicked up, but once the wind died down the dust just hung in the air.
They did water the track a few times, but all that happened was the first race or 2 afterwards swept the damp lose to one side and they were back onto the dusty loose from then on.

That hanging dust is a real pain when you are trying to take video/pictures: I imagine it made life rather difficult from the drivers as well!

He was possibly aided by the dust slowing those behind him, but that looked like a pretty convincing win for Heathcote. Procter looked fast as well, I hope his car proves more reliable this year as I think he deserves at least a few race wins, if not the title .

Grint will be back for Lydden -

Didn't see that one coming - a Mitsubishi Mirage supercar! Good to see another make and model in the championship.

They have been selling these Mitsu's in kit form as a sort of budget WRC car for a few years now, usually GpN Evo Lancer powered and trannied, probably the engine Grint is going to be using I would hazard a guess.

It's what Steve Hill should do with his!!

Ah yes, I've seen those - they've got all sorts of bodyshells they drop onto the chassis haven't they? Not sure why you wouldn't just run the Evo for rallying but there you go.

Nah - Steve Hill needs reliability in the drive train, swapping the shell isn't going to help him much. Besides - the Evo looks good!

Now Grint just needs to improve his driving skills and he will be one to watch. That's a bit cruel but hey ho, he has disappointed a bit in the decent 208

Probably the least impressive entry list for a while at Lydden. Which is a shame for the 50th anniversary. No Belgians or Europeans trying out their cars . Shame. Still, enough cars there to be a good day out

Yeah, I was hoping we might see a few drivers from Europe show their faces. As you say though, enough cars to make it worth the drive to Lydden!

I'll be there as normal, tho the one that worries me is the Retro's. Were have they all gone? i know those cars are expensive but the class hasn't grown as much i was hoping. Never mind here's hoping the weather stays reasonable.

Think there's a rule a driver can't compete at a WorldRX venue within 50 days of the WorldRX event hence no Europeans
