While I support DR, this is not a good position to be in. The excuses have to stop and the results have to start. His contract with the team cannot be strong with these consistent average results against his teammate.

Trouble is, he now needs a great result. So he'll probably push hard and come a cropper somewhere or bounce off a few people, Leclerc-style, in his haste to make progress.

If the second half of the year is the same as the first the team will replace him.Always better to have someone on the way up than the way down.If Russell doesn’t get the Mercedes drive -and I think he will- they would put him in McLaren. If Russell goes to Mercedes they will pick the best of the Mercedes junior program with an eye to the future.
In the 45 years I have been following F1 I can’t think of a quicker and bigger fall in form of a race winning driver than Daniel this year.In the pen interview after qualifying yesterday he nearly seemed resigned to the present situation. |

Is McLaren an official Mercedes feeder team? I missed this, but it is alluded to on here every now and again.

Seemed to be a decent race from Dani Ric today, but his team mate was on the podium.

At one stage on Saturday they had an overlay of the two McLarens through turn 4 (or 3, can't recall). Lando was braking later than Dani and carrying a little more speed - given Daniel's history of being such a late braker, seems that he's still not quite comfortable with the system on the car but he's getting closer to the mark by the looks of how the race went. |

At least he managed to salvage some points. What he needs to do is improve his qualifying. Ricciardo doesn't have to be on the front row like his team mate, but he shouldn't be more than ten places behind him on the grid.

dani has hinted that he would love a crack at bathurst
given there are usually some top mercs and mclarens in the 12 hour and his popularity in oz...... maybe they could convince weber to co drive after all he was world endurance champ in closed in cars....danny and mark in a well funded car at mt panorama.... a promoters dream, sponsors would be crawling over each others bleeding bodies to get a sticker on a danny/mark car at bathurst... given red bull sponsor one of the most successful aussie supercar teams...maybe the fizzy drink australian advertising team might say welcome home to their two aussie gp winners in that category oh danny boy the silver and blue cans are calling Last edited by bathurst77; 5 Jul 2021 at 11:33. |

I wonder if we are going to see Earnhardt’s car coming out for a run this year?

He signed a new contract recently. But who knows.
But it doesn’t surprise me, or outrage me, that the established F1 driver gets paid more. I expect the recent contract narrowed the gap. |

And the more success he has the more they are likely to contribute! Was Alonso always a net contributor?
