Nearly forgot this thread. We're getting closer and closer:
Tres cool TimD: 3 - The Abruzzi robber = Luigi Fagioli, becuase he had the looks of a (and maybe a little past ) tough criminal. 8 - The Sorcerer is not Gordini. This driver was indeed French and had some resemblance to Jean Alesi's career (not the end tho ) and style. 28- Il Negher = Giuseppe Campari, not because he was African or something, but because his tan was always so dark. Dodgy indeed. Remaining: 2 - The Booming Bulldog 5 - The Smiley Dane 6 - The Matchstick 8 - The Sorcerer 16- Hawkeye 29- Il Pirata 30- Ciccio 32- 13 Y'all had time for some fresh inspiration so shoot! |

The Smiley Dane is Tom Belso (I think, can't think of many Danes in F1 and Jan Magnussen hardly ever smiled).
The Sorcerer is Jean Behra again. Hawkeye is probably Paul Hawkins, just from the name? Il Pirata is Felice Bonetto, unless Marco Pantani has taken to F1! Ciccio - 'tubby' in Italian, must be Ascari surely? 13 - well the unluckiest guy I can think of is Herbert, but he is Sherbert, so I don't know. I can't believe I can't get Booming Bulldog, is he British? If so then someone like Derek Bell? Matchstick - absolutely no idea. |

Other than Senninha, which I don't think was Ayrton's nickname, was a nick name ever given to him by anyone ? As much as I admired his talent, I just can't seem to recall him being called anything else other than Ayrton or Senna, and not counting the names he may have been called by other drivers that he beat under their helmets ? Ummmmmmmm I think Alain Prost had a few "Nick" names for Ayrton which of course I can't repeat here... Last edited by JeremySmith; 5 Jun 2001 at 04:29. |

I usually refer M Schumacher as "von Schummi", as a reference he is the next German Ferrari F1 driver after Wolfgang von Trips. I also refer the ScuderÃ*a Ferrari as "ScuderÃ*a von Trips", specially where all are talking about all things of this F1 team are around TGF.
And about Jean Alesi, of course his career has resemblances in comparison of Jean Behra's. He also has a brother called Jose! |
