"a quite remarkable couple of corners by Aryton Senna" - James Hunt ([I]only half way round the first lap of Donington 1993[I])

Whatever settings it was great. In those wet/greasy conditions it doesn't matter what settings you have got -there isn't you much grip off line at all. An advantage he may have had, but to complete that lap in the lead was one hell of an achievement, especially as he actually lost a place on the run to the first corner! So it wasn't even down to a great start!

If you rule out overtaking manoeuvres that involve the passer having a car advantage (even if it is just briefly) then this list becomes very short indeed.

I suppose Senna also had an advantage of being excellent on the first laps when learning how much grip is out there. Whether that be on cold tyres or in a wet race where the conditions change lap by lap.

An absolutely fantastic lap that is now one of the defining moments of this sport. The sort of thing that does it for me.

However, my vote is still for Piquet (in a quicker car) opposite locking it past Senna at the Hungaroring.

I saw a great move when watching a video yesterday.

Monaco 83, Piquet on Prost. Prost had a slight problem but Piquet decided to dispatch of him on the curve INSIDE the tunnel! Talk about balls!
