If I see anotehr shot of Alonso looking gormlessly at a monitor and some mechanics doing nothing I think I will throw the telly out the window!
Why do these dumbass directors think that modern F1 people are going to do anything interesting when a camera is on them! get a grip |

Q2 also pretty much normal as well, but Rosberg and and Barrichello were good. Button disappointing. Might not have made it if Alonso had been there.
Q3 should be electric. |

Has Legard mentioned yet that Alonso crashed and is out of qualifying?

Robert Kubica has shown that he's got great potential. If not for that fumbling car...
Actually I remember another driver who has done similar things here at Monaco, and it was Mark Webber in the disastrous Williams four years ago. And now they're both in front. |

I would guess he'll start on hard tyres and run as long as possible. The front runners reckon that ther tyres will be useless in 12 laps or so, so depends if the front come back to Alonso or if he's been delayed too much by the slower runners. Be great to watch him overtaking there anyway.

Anyone think that the TV Director is a bit slack this weekend? Consistantly, the yellow flags are out for ages before he/she cares to take a look at the incident. And it qualifying, it seemed that Fernando's mono-brow was of more interest than Petrov stuffing a Renault into a wall.
Its just happened in the GP2 race aswell. Poor. |

Well after all that whining about how everyone's laps in Q1 would be ruined by slower cars, the 6 who went out were the 6 who always go out. As usual, F1 goes into hysterics about nothing.
Kubica was looking awesome today - I was really hoping we'd see him on pole to break the Red Bull monopoly. Still, if he gets a good start he could be in with a shout tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing what Alonso can do from the pitlane. He could be TGF in 06, or he might get stuck for half the race behind a slower car a la Coulthard in 2001. |

Was quite a dull qualifying session actually. Only Kubica and Kovi was trying to liven it up.

I can't envisage Alonso having much chance to get into the points. We can't really compare to Schumacher in 2006 since with there being pitstops, MS had the opportunity to jump others at the stops and use his pace in patches of clear air. Alonso will just be bottled up all afternoon. I predict he won't do better than 14th (or crash out trying). Still, it will give an interesting aspect to the race.

Bugger! Missed qualy.
So instead I have come up with two reasons why Webber is now beating Vettel in qualifying. 1. Webber is pushing his knees against the inside of the cockpit tub insides, thus creating a diagonal force. This force is increasing the torsional rigidity of the RBR chassis because of the titanium rods in his leg. {This assumes the rods are still in there.} 2. Webber is running lighter now because the titanium rods have been removed, and this was his intention all along when he careless attacked the 4WD with his mountain bike and leg. {This obviously in the case that he has had the rods removed - I can't remember.} In the case of reason 1, McLaren are already copying it, and all test drivers are being fitted with titanium rods. Ferrari are just mounting a protest. |

The only way Alonso has a chance to get into the points is to drive real deep into the race and hope he can steal a few spots from a first corner crash/spin. Might be able to make up 2 spots if either HRT gets into anything, supposedly no spare front wings for the team this week.
Any chance of rain during the race to mix things up? |

Alonso will be starting from the pit lane in a car that has been completely rebuilt from the chassis up. With no running to even check out that all systems are working, he'll have a tough afternoon just getting into the mid field. At least he can start on whatever tyres he chooses to.
No rain predicted for the race....but you can never tell. |

I hope the telly covers Alonso's charge adequately, because when Webber did it last time at Monaco, they missed it.

They create these "artificial" rules to "spice up the show", but when a front runner gets caught out by them, they don't bother showing it during the race, so why have the bonkers rules? |

Alonso made a mistake. Why should he get more telly coverage? |
