fairplay to the mechanics for fixing it, looked like a lot of damage.

Fantastic news! Will be good to see the Lambo kicking around the track tomorrow.
I wonder what they'll do in the driver question now though. |

When was the last time only two drivers competed at Le Mans and how far did they get?

im not sure on wikipedia it says until the end of the 80s 2 driver teams were competing.
one driver attempted to do the 24 hours on his own, he was Pierre Levegh |

haven't a clue but one can barely imagine how they will be able to put the new chassis et al together for tomorrow...
methinks if it is running, it will be an extremely good candidate for 1st car out of the 2007 Le mans 24 Heures. |

not sure if it was him, but I do recall reading of a driver doing 23 hours until something broke on his car (mind you, you would wager it was the transmission or something that his addled brain made one too many mistakes or bad shifts etc) he was the guy in the Austin in '55 (not that this anything to do with it) |

Seems ****ty if the ACO waited until today to tell them they could use another chassis. The team might have been able to pull it off if they had since Wednesday night.

Yeah, Levegh tried to do the whole 24 hours single-handedly in 1952 in a Talbot-Lago, but the engine broke after over 23 hours whilst 4 laps in the lead - indeed, as djb said, he was so tired he had been making sloppy gear changes which caused the engine to break
However unfortunately he's remembered more for what happened 3 years later... I don't see there being a problem with 2 drivers as they won't last long - I can't see a car that hasn't been dialled in properly lasting the 24. It's a shame for Japan because I should think the Lambo and the T2M will probably be out by halfway (at the latest) |

The replaced IMSA Performance chassis lasted 2/3rds of the race last year.
By the way, I wrote most of the 24 Hours of Le Mans article on Wikipedia Last edited by The359; 15 Jun 2007 at 21:25. |

Was trying to remember who the third was after mcnish decided the R8 drove better crab-style then straight, still one of the best returns to the pits I've seen ever. Wasnt that crash with first hour if not lap?

Yeah, at the time I posted that I'd heard it was still going or hadn't heard of it's withdrawal. But it's definitely out now

The spare chassis is the Piccini/Deletraz car from the 2004 FIA-GT season. The other DAMS car is currently racing in the FIA-GT.
