Iam Sowman said this on the Facebook page for the event:

Ian Sowman
I have just been to Mallory. The track itself is clear but the surround are not, work is being done to clear the paddock today. The meeting at the moment is on, but bike racing looks doubtful and car races may be extended. Better get my voice warmed up!

A few did, i would say the majority plus some additions. What happend to the Saxo Stuart?

All in all a good if cold meeting. I've never seen a car pushed up a paddock slope due to ice before!

Well done to Joss and Gareth Porter two very good strong wins.

Great day out, shame the bikes couldn't run but the car guys made up for it in spades! Some pics:

Indeed it was - the Mallory Park Winter Hillclimb Championship! It was enjoyable to watch between races, and I had no problem at all when departing at close of play.

Well done to everyone who competed today - firstly for reaching the circuit in one piece (the untreated roads near Kirkby Mallory were somewhat lairy!) and secondly for putting on a superb show of racing despite the temperature.

Also, thanks to everyone for listening in on the PA and thanks to Ian Sowman for giving me the opportunity to co-commentate - I've been commentating on short oval racing for a few seasons but this was my first full circuit commentary, and I enjoyed every second of it. Hope you all enjoyed what you heard too.

it all went pair shaped from friday.

My team mate (Cassey Watson) the engine blew on her Mg - she pulled out late Saturday night - I couldnt get out of the drive due to the sheet ice and pulled out of the meeting at 7am yesterday morning.

It hasent been my season at all. Been well of the pace all year in stock hatch! :'(

Great photos Medius! Don't think I have ever seen racing with that much snow on the surounds? Congrats to those who managed to clear the circuit and run something.

haha, well it was worth a picture :P I said that to the person i was with, and the fact he just kept flooring it which was making it worse, why he didn't just keep it in second and krept it up. The clutch didn't smell too good towards the top!

Regulations for the 2011 event are out now - still the same great value, two races for £100. Separate races for sports cars and saloons.

Sports on one grid, saloons on another. As I recall the classes are just based on capacity. Not perfect - but its a fun event.

Is it BARC members only? I am a member but a friend who may want to race isn't

I was thinking of entering this in my E30 320i, which isn't very quick at all

It will be my first race, is the event suitable for a novice? Mallory looking quiet tight, potentially bad weather and lots of faster cars about kind of slightly puts me off

am I worrying about nothing?

I think you'll be fine. The majority of the cars arent uber fast, with the quickest in the saloons being Joss and the Bullet. Which while very capable, is driven by an experienced guy who will get round you no problem.

go for it! its a fun event and im sure you will enjoy it, you'd be about mid-top lower field in a 320i i would have thought. unless your either lewis hamilton, or as bad as me
