IMSA only accepts series production manufacturers, so they exclude artisans like KTM, Vanwall or most notably Glickenhaus.
Ferrari can enter the 499P in IMSA with no issues. |

I think the teams self police that cause of costs to run a P2 over GT3. But yeah, still a weak argument. But are we really to the point we need to basically delete Silver as a grade? Why hire a Silver when you can get a Gold or better for your GTD Pro car.

Pretty sure we have a thread about driver ratings somewhere, but I agree. Why not just have 2 categories? Pro and Am.

What? And limit the podium celebration to only 2? This is IMSA, w demand the track radio play all 37 podium celebrations at 11 all evening at Petit thank you

This might be the reason Doonan is holding off on his 'state-of-the-union' presentation.
While some bronzes have a point, the entry numbers surely don't seem to suggest the system is broken, so why fix it? |

Yeah, it seems that forcing the majority up a class or to fold isn't really the path IMSA needs to consider. Maybe one or two need a review of really being Silver but some are just faster than the others while still doing other jobs. And some of the Bronze weren't exactly keeping up with the field at Lime Rock so....

Just reading on DSC about the current leaders of the Trueman and Aiken awards in IMSA. One more piece of this bronze v silver puzzle is that only the bronze drivers are eligible for those awards - and the prize is an auto invite to Le Mans! pretty good reward even if you finish behind a silver in the standings.

Shhh, how dare you point out what's offered. The Bronze trainwrecks prefer to be at the front and winning for their spending

Brynjolfsson said "it’s been miserable".
Er, he and his team are 8th in points, so midpack. How can he complain? |

Well they are 8 out of 13 full season teams and 4th in Bronze I think. Iribe is running away with it but they aren't far out of the rest of the field of Bronze

AWA (of LMP3 fame) will be running a pair of Covettes in GTD next season.
https://www.dailysportscar.com/2023/...-imsa-gtd.html Did not expect that, but great to see them transition into another class. I hope they get some livery freedom and don't have to do a regular yellow/gray thing |

So that's 4 in IMSA then with 2 Pro and those 2? Guess that's all we'll get with 2 in WEC, didn't sound like PM was gonna crank out GT3s but maybe they'll have to based on sales
And you have to think they'll get the liveries of the paying guys in GTD over factory Vette livery, but interesting to see who they sign on to drive and if they have a Bronze in an effort to get another Vette to LM if the ACO allows those entries Last edited by broadrun96; 3 Aug 2023 at 20:16. |

I don't believe you're wrong there.
Feeling sorry for Colin Braun if it turns out to be correct - finally gets a factory supported top flight seat, only for it to be cancelled after one season. Let's hope one of the other GTP teams, scoops him up. |

It could be WTR is getting that car instead of MSR, aren't they expanding to 2 cars for 24?

Correct, but would have been nice to have that as an additional car instead of replacement. |

Is Colin an Acura driver or MSR? With the same car still being around he could, and should, end up in the WTR seat

Seems MSR's, not Honda factory driver:
https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/b...ra-gtp-lineup/ But I agree he should get a seat at WTR in case Shank loses his car. |

Maybe what MSR gets for cheating at Daytona and HPD feeling like they had to come clean because the team didn't.

It's the end of their contract and it sounds like MSR is going more Indy than IMSA. Don't think Daytona had anything to do with it

And let the meltdowns of the internet begin, IMSA 24 schedule out and all you need to know is S365 link says clash laden in the title
Indy is now a 6 hour enduro round, Sept 22 for all 4 classes Lime Rock is gone Detroit is back, GTP and GTD Pro Canucks get LMP2, no GTP ViR is only GT only round Laguna is May 12, WEC Spa Glen is June 30, Spa 24 Detroit June 1, N24 6 Hours of Indy and 2 weeks later Petit. That seems like a great plan 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Schedule: Jan. 19-21 — Roar Before Rolex 24 Jan. 25-28 — Rolex 24 at Daytona* March 13-16 — Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring* April 19-20 — Long Beach Street Circuit (GTP/GTD) May 10-12 — WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca (GTP/GTD Pro/GTD) May 31-June 1 — Detroit Grand Prix (GTP/GTD Pro) June 27-30 — Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen* July 12-14 — Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (LMP2/GTD Pro/GTD) Aug. 2-4 — Road America Aug. 23-25 — Virginia International Raceway (GTD Pro/GTD) Sept. 20-22 — Indianapolis Motor Speedway* Oct. 9-12 — Motul Petit Le Mans* Last edited by broadrun96; 4 Aug 2023 at 18:50. |
