NZSTfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
That's interesting. The #1 TLX gets used as a hot lap mule.

Wonder who gets to drive it, or will it have a range of 'certified' drivers?

With regards to the up and coming summer series, the NZ Touring Car website does not have any information about the number of new cars racing.

We know courtesy of SB that chassis 009 has been sold (but as SB mentioned it may not run until next year), so does anyone know how many TLX's will be racing in the full series, what guise they will be in, and who the drivers will be?

Also any news on TL entries would be appreciated too. Once again this info is not easily available on said website, although I only spent about 5 minutes perusing it.

I might go an book a hotlap in the TLX if the price is right can never get enough of going around HD, and it will be interesting to compare it to Murphs old V8SC that I have been around HD in before, with Daniel Jilesen as my pilot.

Swedish Brick has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Is that car only a hotlap car now? Or is it just a temporary thing?
And yeah some info asap should be a priority

Agree SB, some info would be good, and seeing as fans have a choice now, web marketing should be their priority to get the interest there.

FYI, just checked the cost of the hotlaps, and as stated on the website 'A current NZV8 Race Car with a 5Litre V8 engine reaching speeds of up to 230km/h. This car was the NZV8 Jason Bargwanna Championship Winning Car!

$299 - 3 laps
$375 - 4 laps
$450 - 5 laps

Not bad when compared to the $500 I paid for my hotlaps in the Supercar, I think from memory we had one outlap, 3 flyers and an in lap, plus some nice oversteer at T4 It may sound expensive, but it is an experience I will never forget.

The car is now owned by Lance Hughes and will run in this coming season of NZV8TC.
Not sure what the deals is with HD and hot laps....bit of a side project maybe?

Also, just had a thought. The ad states the car runs a 5.0l engine. Is that correct? I thought it ran an LS3 which is 6.2l isn't it?

Maybe the ad is not up to date, or maybe they are running one of the old TL spec engines in it??? surely that wouldn't be the case??

I would bet it is more likely that the add is wrong than they have changed the engine,
but who knows....??

I wonder what Hampton Downs paid for that car? my guess is somewhere between 130-150k, which is well below its asking price of $185k NZD

Can anyone confirm what the cost to HD was for the TLX?

Probably only the person who sold it and the person who brought it, anything else is will be pure speculation and gossip

Not really interested in that to be honest SB, just interested in what was paid ( I.e market value) for the #1 TLX by the people who bought it.

Hopefully this will be somewhere available on the internet.
I have seen most of the V8ST races but would like to make a comparison.

TL = Schedule TL (TraNZam Lite) which was the class designation from back in 1995.
Also known as NZV8's. There is tons of you tube footage.
They were quite a crude weapon built from old road cars but after a bunch of development they were pretty quick for what they were. There was some fairly torrid racing.

The sharp end of the field moved in to V8ST and the remainder of the NZV8 guys plugged on with the TLX.

There are a handful of other threads on here, most locked, all full of acrimony about the whys and wherefores but you'd be a brave man to wade through those!

Is from the last round the supercar event. There used to be all the race from this event on You Tube, but I can't seem to find them.

Really?? so according to you the market value of the #1 TLX car is zero?

I don't care if HD bought it, all I care about is that someone (people or person) has bought it and unless they are a charity then someone/some people would have paid some $$ for it.

Refer to post 63 where I state.."..just interested in what was paid ( I.e market value) for the #1 TLX by the people who bought it. .

No mention in there at all of HD buying it. Your just trying to twist peoples post around

Sure asks what HD paid for it

Actually Post 61 is right on the mark

What does it matter what was paid for it? ST this made me laugh;

You speculate a price (out of nothing?) and then make statement that it's well below the asking price, of course it is, you made up the figure, I could just as easily say;

Quote:
my guess is $235k, which is well above the asking price of $185k
and imply they made a truck-load off it instead of a loss.

Back to it though, any idea on when we'll hear more about the V8 series this year? Who's bought these new chassis, what they'll be? Show me some pretty colours on the cars too!

No not really. This was on the HD facebook...

What do you think of the new Hampton Downs hot laps car?
It’s the current NZV8 Jason Bargwanna Championship winning car!"

Its a Hampton Downs hot lap car.....

And Biggy, that was not a speculated figure, it was based on what I thought it would be worth. As it turns out I was pretty close

Open test day this Friday for the NZV8TC's at Puke, leading into round one, Thunder in the Park. Itching to get into the new season.

MRX your post begs the question, how many TLX cars will run at the first round of the Championship held in conjunction with Thunder In The Park?
