A great victory for Gresini and no doubt very popular with everyone, well done Bastianini. I honestly thought Pol was was going to get the win on the new Honda after dominating from the start and with both factory Ducatis falling by the way side it looked like a done deal.

Well all the 3 races were good and kept me awake ! Sam Lowes had a bit of good luck on the last lap for a change with a 3rd and although McPhee didn't didn't manage a podium at least he finished in the points. Yamaha were in trouble at this track but hopefully will get back on the pace in the near future. Brilliant to see KTM up the front with a 2nd and a fantastic maiden win for Bastianini !

Can't wait to see the highlights then. Especially with the Brits doing well and a great MotoGP race to boot. We're in for a great season and Enea will be one to keep an eye on after that great win

25 years after their last Grand Prix, Indonesia is set to be the focus of the motorcycle racing world once again as MotoGP makes its debut at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit this weekend. The trip to the island nation is set to make for an unforgettable experience for fans and riders as they flock to Lombok for Round 2 of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship.

It's gonna be a bit of an unknown, so it should be quite exciting, especially on a track like this. Big boost for Yamaha in practice, so Fabio should be feeling more confident, but I still wouldn't want to make predictions for the race at this stage

It's now looking very good for Yamaha. There is still a long way to go this season, but it's gonna be a boost for Fabio's title defence if he can dominate and win this weekend

Well really not ideal conditions for the main MotoGP race with rain and standing water around the track in a shortened race, however most of the riders managed to stay on their bikes with Miguel Oliveria winning and the current world champion showing just how good he is towards the end of the race.

Tropical season really hit the GP, sensible to shorten the race. Credit to the riders for keeping it on. Great win for Oliveira, although Fabio came close to beating him, especially at the end. Bad race for Qatar winner Enea. Can't wait to watch the highlights tonight

Somkiat Chantra has become the first Thai rider to win a motorcycle grand prix with a dominant victory in the 2022 Indonesian Moto2 Grand Prix at Mandalika.
The race was reduced to 16 instead of 25 laps due to 'track conditions', with the excessively high temperatures later cited (presumably meaning track damage), while occasional spots of rain began falling on the grid. The start took place as planned, with Chantra snatching the early lead from Sam Lowes and debut pole qualifier Jake Dixon, However Dixon fell soon after overtaking Lowes and didn't finish. Sam road a sensible race and settled for points in 4th POS RIDER NAT TEAM BIKE TIME 1 Somkiat Chantra THA IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia (KALEX) 25m 40.876s 2 Celestino Vietti ITA Mooney VR46 Racing Team (KALEX) 25m 44.106s 3 Aron Canet SPA Flexbox HP40 (KALEX) 25m 45.242s 4 Sam Lowes GBR Elf Marc VDS Racing Team (KALEX) 25m 48.794s 5 Augusto Fernandez SPA Red Bull KTM Ajo (KALEX) 25m 53.104s 6 Ai Ogura JPN IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia (KALEX) 25m 53.260s 7 Ferm?*n Aldeguer SPA MB Conveyors Speed Up (BOSCOSCURO) 25m 53.572s 8 Tony Arbolino ITA Elf Marc VDS Racing Team (KALEX) 25m 55.423s 9 Pedro Acosta SPA Red Bull KTM Ajo (KALEX) 25m 58.662s 10 Albert Arenas SPA Inde GASGAS Aspar Team (KALEX) 25m 59.203s 11 Joe Roberts USA Italtrans Racing Team (KALEX) 25m 59.385s 12 Cameron Beaubier USA American Racing (KALEX) 25m 59.442s 13 Jorge Navarro SPA Flexbox HP40 (KALEX) 26m 0.587s 14 Jeremy Alcoba SPA Liqui Moly Intact GP (KALEX) 26m 0.836s 15 Bo Bendsneyder NED Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team (KALEX) 26m 1.427s 16 Marcel Schrotter GER Liqui Moly Intact GP (KALEX) 26m 3.923s 17 Marcos Ramirez SPA MV Agusta Forward Racing (MV AGUSTA) 26m 4.094s 18 Manuel Gonzalez SPA Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Tea (KALEX) 26m 5.055s 19 Romano Fenati ITA MB Conveyors Speed Up (BOSCOSCURO) 26m 6.009s 20 Lorenzo Dalla Porta ITA Italtrans Racing Team (KALEX) 26m 7.830s 21 Filip Salac CZE Gresini Racing Moto2 (KALEX) 26m 8.554s 22 Gabriel Rodrigo ARG Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team (KALEX) 26m 10.424s 23 Zonta Van Den Goorbergh NED RW Racing GP (KALEX) 26m 12.649s 24 Alessandro Zaccone ITA Gresini Racing Moto2 (KALEX) 26m 13.312s 25 Niccolò Antonelli ITA Mooney VR46 Racing Team (KALEX) 26m 14.850s Sean Dylan Kelly USA American Racing (KALEX) DNF Jake Dixon GBR Inde GASGAS Aspar Team (KALEX) DNF Keminth Kubo THA Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Tea (KALEX) DNF Simone Corsi ITA MV Agusta Forward Racing (MV AGUSTA) DNF | |

John McPhee missed Moto3 at the weekend's Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika after fracturing two vertebrae in a training accident.
The Scot suffered the injury during a Supermoto training session, however, according to the Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max Racing team, the fractures are stable and therefore McPhee does not need surgery. At the moment he is not sure when he will be returning unfortunately. |

Shame about McPhee, hopefully he will recover enough for the next round. It's a shame he's never had a proper chance to progress upwards and this won't help, but the signs are good that he shouldn't be out for too long. But we'll have to wait and see

Funny how i think now that Marquez is busting himself up so much these days that Stoner made the right call to retire when he did...

I wonder if Marquez is now thinking of retiring. For me Stoner retired too early and could have gone on for another couple of years, but at least we got Marquez in at the right time to replace him

The lean angle in that main race was incredible given the horrendous conditions, I'm truly surprised there weren't more casualties. Great ride from Fabio Quartararo to finish second. Seeing Dixon take such an early tumble in moto2 after the terrific qualifying was heartbreaking, he was absolutely distraught in the pit garage. Last edited by justracing; 23 Mar 2022 at 16:41. |

“The second neuro-ophthalmological evaluation carried out on Marc Marquez this past Monday has shown a very favorable evolution in the paralysis of the fourth right nerve affected by the fall that occurred at the Indonesian Grand Prix,” explained Dr. Dalmau. “Recovery is not yet complete, and Marc Marquez must follow the established therapeutic regime with conservative treatment.” For that reason, Marc Marquez will sit out the Argentinian Grand Prix, and Honda will tap veteran test rider Stefan Bradl to fill in. Bradl is no stranger to substitute duties either. In 2020, the German rider replaced Marquez for 11 of the 13 races due to a season-ending broken arm. . |

A technical issue with a plane at Moi International Airport in Mombasa in Kenya carrying cargo for some of the MotoGP paddock had caused delays in some teams getting equipment from Indonesia to Termas de Rio Hondo.
As a result, MotoGP and the race organisers have taken the decision to cancel Friday's running. Instead, all three classes will have FP1 and FP2 on Saturday morning and early afternoon, with MotoGP FP4 being scrapped and replaced by FP3 – though this will run to 30 minutes just like an FP4 session. Qualifying for the MotoGP class will then take place immediately afterwards at 5:05pm (9:05pm BST). Sunday's schedule will remain unchanged. This is handy for us as the qualifying will all be on Saturday night !! Last edited by GORDON STREETER; 31 Mar 2022 at 23:47. |

New chicane for Austria MotoGP:
https://the-race.com/motogp/under-fi...#disqus_thread If it's considered to fiddly they could always just use only the right side of the chicane. Would still serve the purpose of slowing them enough down, no bikes flying passed anyone at high speed and a bit more flow. |

Shouldn't make too much difference, it should achieve it's objective and not ruin the flow too much
