ChrisG99 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Oulton Park Shakedown.

Anyone wishing to race at Oulton Park on Saturday 30th July in a non championship race meeting? Shakedown for our championship event on the 13th August?
Northern Saloons and other Saloons and Sports Cars are being offered one 30minute qualifying and four 30 minute races all for the cost of £250, how cheap is that? Apparently Saker booked track time but non of the Belgians are comming over. There will probably be some British ones out but they are trying to fill the grids.
For further details contact the Gibson household by the usual means or if you just want to enter contact BRSCC Head Office 01732783142.
This is a genuine one off offer probably never to be repeated that will probably fill up quickly at price quoted!

Nothing like a bit of "behind the bike sheds" squabbling.

Well things are still a bit tight for me making it, the engine is back in and running and the box is due for completion by Elite tomorrow (Wed) but I'm in Aberdeen working till late on Thursday so Friday looks like it will be a busy day, just hope I don't generate any problems, if so Steve will be getting a panic call.

As Steve has said my car won't be ready as one of the things that got damaged when the box let go at Cadwell was 2nd gear and for some reason "Elite" have managed twice to get the gear wrong when machining a new one..!..!, to say that I'm just a bit disappointed is an understatement to say the least.

I will be there at the weekend to make sure Steve keeps calm

Oulton Park 13th August

A timetable for the 13th August was ommitted from the posted Final Instructions.
A provisional timetable is now available on the Darlington site: www.darlington-motor-club.org.uk
A quick time check for NSSCC is as follows:

Qualifying @ 0830, Race 1 @ 1200 and race 2 @ 1620.

Just reviewing/editing our videos and thought I'd ask your opinions on the safety car in race two.

In race one Pete Dixon's Civic looks to me to be in a more dangerous place than Alex Rae's Ginetta does in race two.

What do you think?

From a marshals perspective, ( I was at Island / Foulstons so could see the ginetta and have seen the in car of the civic)

The Civic in the Gravel at cascades was a lot further into the gravel and was a fair way down the hill from the beginning of the gravel so was unlikely to be collected where the ginetta ended up was near the edge of the gravel and near to the line of fire had anyone lost it going into Shell so IMHO the safety car was justified

I was the Post Chief at Shell, so it was me who requested the Safety Car!

I was not happy with the position of the car, particularly so early on in a very close, competitive race. All it needed was an overtaking move (& there were plenty going on!) to go slightly wrong, someone to lose it under braking or get slightly wide on the entry & run off the circuit & there's a very real chance that it would have been hit. My incident team did try to push it out, but were unable to do so, so we needed a recovery vehicle; unfortunately the brake problem (?) which out it into the gravel trap in the first place made the recovery much more difficult than anticipated, which is why it took so long.

Maybe we could have got away with leaving the car there, maybe we couldn't. My assessment of the situation was that it was too great a risk to take; that opinion was backed by the Clerks, who have the benefit of cameras looking at Shell from a different viewpoint.

I was Post Chief at Cascades, where the Civic had ended up in the gravel.

The car was a good distance into the gravel trap, and so my judgement was that it was in a relatively safe place and I was happy for the car to remain there for the race - probably looks different from an in car camera because of the way the track is slightly banked and the gravel trap falls away from the edge of the circuit.

Had it been a 3 hour race my decision might have been different, but to effectively stabilise half of a 15 minute race just to move that car would have been futile.

As above, the Clerks would have seen the situation on CCTV and were happy.

Perhaps you should come and join us and have ago at judging these situations yourself???

Im a post chief (28 years expereince!) and was a competitor in the race, I agree that Petes accident the cars were safe, unfortunately I didnt make it to the second race
I'm pretty sure the question wasnt a criticism at the marshaling
