Sure isn't pretty. Should be noted that the 1996 chassis used was basically a Champ Car chassis.

Not a pretty list. BUT - the amount of injuries have gone down over the years, and the most recent ones (apart from the obvious...) are mostly minor injures.

Yeah, it should also be noted that the first generation true IRL IndyCar chassis was severely flawed - the rear end in particular didn't absorb nearly enough energy.

This, in my opinion, is still a problem today, but thankfully not to the same extent as it used to be.
