PS2244 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
They other potential candidate is Walkinshaw Racing Ryan Walkinshaw was spotted at Toyota HQ in Sydney earlier in 2016 but that could've been about the walkinshaw car performance brand its unconfirmed as to what happen during those talks

Wonder what's worth more. Waverley Forklifts spend with TMH, or TMH sponsorship with T18?

Penske / DJR
Walkinshaw
Prodrive
BJR
GRM

All been around for 25+ years, all proven car builders, all multi car teams, all race/Bathurst/Championship winners, all with name drivers. All without manufacturer dollars.

Yet the biggest manufacturer in the world wants to fund a single car customer team thats been around for 5 years.

Team 18 wouldn't be a single car team anymore if they got the deal they would expand to 2 cars seemingly with Todd Hazelwood or a younger driver and Lee in the other and remember Kelly racing was only 4 years old when they got there factory backing but Toyota also being linked with Walkinshaw

If Toyota were getting serious about a racing program I'd figure Neal Bates would get the tap on the shoulder?

Mate, I appreciate your enthusiasm, it's great to see. But, could you please try writing in sentences? It really would make it much easier for everyone else to read.

While I think it would be great if Toyota came to the sport, I can't see them joining with Charlies team leading the way, as the others have stated, there are much bigger, better set ups available that don't have a factory behind them.

Oh crap I'm sorry my phones keyboard is quite glitchy I apologise about that. But I've stated that they're also being linked with Walkinshaw as well.

No doubt talks between teams and potential manufacturers are ongoing, and probably have been for years. I'm sure just about everybody would have knocked on Toyota's door at some stage, as the country's largest car company.

Would think a serious Alfa tilt unlikely, given the small volume of cars they sell in this country. Looking back at Toyota's motorsport history, they tend to do things big or not at all, so with no disrespect to CSR or Neal Bates, they would be more likely to align themselves with a team with an established engineering base, ie WR, PRA or DJR. Wouldn't read too much into CSR's existing sponsorship with Toyota Forklifts, it may well be some sort of contra with Waverley Forklifts. Bit like GRM having retained Volvo Trucks support this year.

Kia is plausible given that it does have mass market share and having a look at the carpark at V8 events these days, there are more Kia and Hyundais than Holdens and Fords.

Alfa seems to be a plausible entry next year they seem to have interest in entering they'll likely join GRM from rumours I've heard.

That's what I've heard but was there any need to question my sanity lol I'm just reiterating what I've heard. Kia are rumoured to be heading Walkinshaw's way so if Alfa are to join the most plausible team to join would be GRM. In reference to Alfa not selling large volumes of cars weren't Volvo not selling many cars in Australia in 2014 when they joined

Gazoo is just what Toyota Motorsport is called now... Confusingly, Gazoo Racing the rally team is not related to Gazoo Racing the GT racing team...

So initial prototype built in Cologne, as well as complete engine and aero. Chassis done in Finland.

Makes sense for a facility that has all that experience with F1 & GT racing, plus a wind tunnel to do all that work.

But it seems their rally car was built to incomplete regulations and didn't cut the mustard.

If Kia enter the series, then Hyundai would be in the series. I doubt both brands will be in at the same time though.

The stumbling block for Kia, if i read the AA article correctly, is that Kia don't want to foot the bill... will any teams go for one off their own bat?

The TMG car was ditched. Cologne continue with the engine alone. The rest of the car was made from scratch (and now run) by Tommi Makinen Racing, a team who only ever built Subaru Group N cars from kits up until the Toyota deal.

To clarify, 'Gazoo' is the official brand name given to many Toyota-backed teams. So, the Hilux racing in Dakar is 'Toyota Gazzoo Racing' but it's run by a team from South Africa. Likewise with the WRC team by TMR.

The point being Team 18 isn't a stretch for Toyota. Prior, TMR built cars from kits, similar-ish to Team 18 with parts from 888. Whether or not it's true that there is a discussion remains to be seen. Back on topic now, apologies.

Thinking ahead to next year, and apologies if I've missed something as the last few weeks have been quite tragic as many of you will appreciate, but is the 888 deal exclusive of chassis and engines as a package or is it chassis only?
